Stamper floor?
I've seen pictures of these before. The caption said they were washing floors, dirt and rock was brought in wagons and dumped on the deck. Water was let in to make a slurry and horses were driven over the conglomerate to break it up. Then the larger rock was scraped out with sluice rakes and the water run out with the pay-dirt through a sluice box.

This one was a few weeks back. I was working so didnt get a chance to do any panning but I will be hitting the owner up.
I would be getting the wetsuit and tank on and get into that waterfall.
I've not done any test panning in this creek yet. It's on the periphery of the known gold area so may or may not hold gold. Although another creek I've got access to is in the same category and it produces good quantities of gold.
On a client's property yesterday which is right in the middle of a historic gold area. Two mint looking creeks running through it but the owner was only luke warm about me trying my luck. So after the job finished up I was able to get onto one of the creeks through public land. The area I could access had clearly been given a bit of work over but still plenty of gold there. Need to butter up the landholder a bit more.

Out on the road on Friday and got the chance to run a few pans here. The creek has records of sapphire deposits but not at this location. I only gave it about 20min and didnt turn up a skerrick of a gemstone nor a flake of gold. Looks interesting though and worth more investigation. Sure beats sitting at a desk on a cracker of a day.
You might even spot a platypus there if you're very lucky!
Good point. Some good habitat for them in this location, although the way I was stomping around there was Buckleys of me seeing one 😆. Lots of the creeks I've been in recently have really healthy insect populations including caddis, stonefly, mudeye, damselfly and mayfly.

On the road yesterday and had lunch on this creek in the CW of NSW - Waugoola Creek just south of Woodstock. The area looks like it has potential (gold mining history, the right geology and lots of faults and shears). Did 6-8 pans and didnt raise a speck of colour. The wash carries very little in the way of heavies and almost no black sand.
Anyway it was a beautiful spot for a break. There was a reasonable carp cruising in the pool below the log which you can just make out.
