its like a fluid bed style mate the water underneath and the water on top hit each other causing gold to dropout into the tray.

Wow ZL that's a nice looking piece of work. I have an idea to knock something up that I can use without water. I just need a few days spare before we head off at the end of the month but I can't see it happening.

Every time Mrs M sees me with 5 min to spare she hits me with something that she needs done. Today it was a grab rail/towel rail above the beds. Then there was a paper towel holder and the kitchen bench top had the be modified so that the sink was a better fit. Next I had to seal a couple of old holes in the floor to prevent dust entry and sort out the bundle of battery charges we have for all the devices. I still have to fit front mudflaps, LED reverse lights, mount the spare gas bottle, mount the rake and fit my new tyres when they get here. By then I'm sure there'll be plenty more items added to the list. Oh yes I forgot the new shower cubical I have to install in the bathroom for the house sitter while we're away.

Anyway back to the project. We don't have the luxury of running water in most WA streams. They are dry most of the year so when I build a highbanker style device it has to operate dry. I do have a leaf blower so could make a dryblower but I think the noise would ruin the tranquility of the outback experience. I'm planing on making a hand operated vibrating classifier with a similar system to catch the gold or gemstones.

Will it work? I'll let you know when I get the chance to knock something up but I think it will have to wait till we get home in August.

wow nice sluice :) i was sitting here the other night trying to think of a way to fit a classifier section into a river sluice and i think ive got it :) its gonna look space age but i think it may work :) i dont want to give away to much now but i will design it and build it and ill post some pics here and see what people think :) i could be onto thhe evolution of the river sluice haha

Iv built a lot of things over the years Tho some of my projects I never share, Tho alot of them fail' any thing I post up on this forum is to share' so go nuts.... The classifier screen is a modified biscuit cooling rack, found at most hardware stores or supermarkets for $5-$10.
