Love that token Rod, pretty old one at that being from the 1850's. To put the age into perspective, the Burke & Wills Expedition only happened in 1860. ;)

Cool fact GP. Thanks :D

Well I think today is my last day saving history from next door. Ready for concrete tomorrow. Maybe the pond will be covered with gravel or left as is. When I turned t he corner and saw the roller had been over it I didn't expect much. Three paces into the site my hope soar. See pic 1. A surface find Commy penny. :D No ID on the medallion yet, it's soaking.

You did well to pick the site clean of any finds over the last few days, makes you wonder how many other treasure troves are lock up underneath a slab of cement. :)

The medallion looks real interesting, got my researchers hat on at the moment. :)

Out with Rocket and Jacob today. Explored a couple of historic sites ;)
A steady trickpe of copper coins, the odd relic and a few moderns for all of us. In the last part of the hunt things picked up a bit. I had one silver ring earlier in the day then picked up the nice one with the rose. We were practically working side by side when I was lucky enough to swing my coil over a really nice 1925 florin. :D say my name.
Also scored my first small Australian Military forces button, a little buckle just next to it and one of my dirt "10 cents" turned out to be a 1965 American quarter, only the 2nd I've found.

A good day out. Thanks boys.

Lovely florin Rod, beats finding those 47' florins all the time. ;) Did the silver flower ring have any other hallmarks on it, or is likely to be more modern jewellery? :)

Also did the medallion from the previous hunt clean up anymore, I couldn't find anything similar from what I could see.

Thanks all. The rose ring has the 925 and an A.

Haven't looked at the medallion. Between detecting and 2 grandkids staying...

Lock the kids up, and tell em you are reeaaaal busy with important stuff. :D Am thinking due to the size of the medallion, that it may be of religious origin - only a bit larger than a sixpence wasn't it.

Really old catholic s hole over the road so chances are high it's religious. Yes a bit bigger than a thrip.
Don't you go falling in, hate to see you getting stuck in there somehow.
We be all like 8) now !

Met up with Rocket and LonelySilver today. A hunt organized by LS, Jacob. Thanks mate.

A new girl in town, Jess also showed up with her At Pro. Unbelievably in the first ten minutes or so I pulled out what thought from its size was a token. Once I did some research at home its an young Victoria penny, pre 1860. 34 mm and very thick compared to later pennies. I think it's 1845. Pretty toasted but it's my oldest penny and my first of this type so Yay. :D

A Metre away I got a commonwealth penny... and so the day went with a slow but constant flow of finds between the 4 of us. I managed only one small silver but foreign coins seemed the order of the day with 3 for me.

As Jess left Sandta showed up, late due to work but still managed his share of finds. Dave Law was working but managed to stop by to say hello. A good day out. Thanks all.

Sacre bleu, what's with all the French coins? Love those big pennies, they are always a hoot to find, and are a quite a chunky coin. Sounds like you all had a fun day out - Newcastle chapter of PA. :)
