A few hours by the beach with Rocket. Beach SIDE, not a beach hunt. We thought we would escape the heat.
Not as many pre decimals as we thought but such is life. Another silver ring it's a bit beaten but it was already ugly. Still 925 silver. ;)

Its pretty cool when you can research then know the history like the princess, it ads alotta flavour to the hobby cough hunt :D, cant wait to find my first silver/gold

Knuckle duster ring? Who cares, just a big chunk of silver. ;) I don't mind detecting those sorts of areas, they usually hold an interesting mix of gear, and sometimes quite old and not necessarily that deep. Sounds like you both had a pleasant day.

I was going to say lets have a "show us your nasty ring" section, though had second thoughts on the title. :8

Rocket and I did a mini tour of the Hunter Valley coalfields today. It was only going to be an hour or 2.... 4 locations and 7 hours later and I had a great day for relics and bucket list items. As usual it started out slowly. The first place which I thought looked good on maps was fairly new and built up. I swung the detector under an old tree for ten minutes until Rocket showed up. We moved to site 2 which was also a bust. We spied a small patch of grass across the road and I got some BBs and Rocket got a florin!. On to site #3. Rocket was getting a few finds and I was getting BBs n bottle tops. I did get a shilling, a penny and a half penny. Then my day brightened with what looked to be a complete pocket watch as it came out of the ground but when I turned it over it was full of soil. Still a great find. Not much more for a while and Rocket called it. I stayed 20 minutes or so after he left and found a harmonica read, surface find.

I packed up and as I drove off I decided to check one more spot on the way home. Within minutes I got a Roo penny with on edge poking out o the ground. In one patch about a metre across I got the 6 pennies in the top row of pic 1. All Britannias and Commonwealth of Australia between 1898 and 1923. Some are in really nice condition but it doesn't show in the pics. I'll try get better pics tomorrow. Need a better light source.

Finished the day off with 2 great bucket list finds. A beaut little "secure" brand padlock. Mrs Ramjet has cleaned all the dirt out with toothpicks. I will take it to my locksmith and see if he has a key. Great find. I'm stoked with it. Next bucket list item was the thimble. It's not silver and squashed flat but still my first.

EDIT: In all the excitement I forgot about my first penny token. (Thanks for the reminder Rocket). Well it's penny sized. From "Galaxy World" which is a video arcade. Pics added to the bottom.

So a great day.

you had a great day after I went home! The thimble looks to be an advertising one. Grats on your buckets.......grrr you cheated on me, by detecting after I left lol

Some excellent relics and coins there Ramjet. The second pocket watch to appear this week, and a very nice padlock - should look great cleaned up. You guys are really starting to venture further afield, hopefully some new honey holes will come to fruition. :)

Another day at the office with Rocket. The pennies just keep on coming at this place. Got a nice 1942 S sixpence. My very last target while Rocket took pics of his finds was the 1953 florin. ,
After he left I hit up another spot to test it out. Plenty of goldies with 4 surface finds but no pre decimals from this spot yet.
The buckle is the most delicate I have found. Made from fairly thin material with some art work on it. Plenty of lead among the junk.
