Trace and I bought our first house together and moved in 3 months ago, the thing we liked was that it was like a blank canvas to work with outside. 8 weeks ago Trace decided she wanted steps leading down to the parking area out the front so there began the part 1 project for the front yard (steps and garden beds), part 2 will be the standard rose garden on the front side fence and a gate to park the 4WD and trailer around the side in the early new year.
I got the top 2 steps in early but from then on we had the pergola and shed going up so my time was spent painting every night after work for 2 weeks. Last weekend I wanted to get back into it but the ground was to hard for the shovel so I took Tuesday and Wednesday off work (RDO's) hired and excavator and knocked the bulk of it over on Tues, got the sleepers in on Wed and planted yesterday, mulched this morning and the heat has put a halt to putting the finishing touches to the first garden bed and steps.

I plan to have the opposite side done by next weekend with a 45 deg angle across where the front wheel is on the last pic leading up to where the gate will be, and gravel down the bottom to finish part 1 off.
It's all been worked out in my head with a rough plan and we've just improvised as we've gone along.
The aim was to have it finished by Christmas and it looks like it will come in 2 weeks early which means I can finally get out prospecting again...........Yaaa!!

Looks a treat mate couldnt have done it better myself. Monsta bud juice is the bomb for roses flower all the time well mabey not in Vico ...lol u should try it anyway....top effort all the same.

Looks great Pete. I don't know what area you are in but if there are termites in the area it is not a good idea putting the garden up against the house wall, it can give them access to your house, especially if the garden is above the floor height. I have seen too many houses attacked and it has made me a little paranoid.

Top work! Ill have to get out one of these days and finish off some of the many outdoor projects I have going on.

Hey thanks guys, I can't wait to finish the other side this weekend and take a break for summer, we've done a fair bit in only 3 months but so much more we want to do when the weather is better for working.

Magilla, I'll be keeping and eye on the little termites. We had a pest inspection done when we bought and all was good since there is concrete all the way around the rest of the house plus it's on a slab, those 2 small garden beds in front of the windows are their only way in so it will be watched closely.

Yea, finally finished stage 1 of the front yard, the smaller garden bed (right side) has taken me twice as long to do as the bigger one, heat being a big factor as well as the rock hard ground on that side of the yard. Stage 2 will be levelling off the front and putting in a gravel driveway to the side, gates and more garden beds down the side fence to finish the front off, that's the plan for March but now it's time to kick back and catch up on life for a couple of months until the weather is more favourable for work.

It was the few coldies that I had at 11am yesterday on an empty stomach that turned a 4 hour job to finish it into a 9 hour job, made it more fun though :D

Gotta love iPad zoom , reckon I can spot a Nugget a la Jack Russell in the neighbours
front yard . Seriously Pete what a sweet job mate.

Cheers :)
