Hi hilux
being flat
it is more than likely what they call a decorative finial
searching finials will only get the curtain rod ends and what not
most decorative finials are pressed from dies ,and used as you said a bit of bling for anything (chests ,books ,metal art )
i have put a couple of pages of decorative finials so you can get a bit of a idea of the sizes, as you would more than not find what you are looking for
That's really cool SS. I didn't know finials could be flat. I just though of them as curtain rod ends!

Thanks for going to the effort of the examples.

Now I can go do some more looking.

Cheers

that one of yours is not in the booklet
that booklet is about 30 years old
the company that makes them are still going as far as i know (bendigo) they are made from tin sheet now, no brass ones too expensive
when that booklet was released there's a lot missing from previous booklets as demand had wavered
