I use two cameras...a Panasonic Lumix TZ7 point and shoot pocket camera with 12x zoom and all this other stuff....and a Panasonic G3 with even more stuff. Both now a little old hat...but you need not have the best there is to get good shots. Iv seen some of those fancy phones take some excellent pics. However, my Telstra Frontier is not one of them, and is best left as a phone only device. :/

Your first pic could go either way....blurred close up object while the real focus is on the object in the back ground. Most cameras have the ability to do this....and to some extant, phones as well.

The second pic can also be made with the camera lens facing directly into the sun as you have done.....but with a faster shutter speed and flash, that pic could have been a master piece.

Everything you need to know can be found on the net....once you learn a little about the settings your device has to offer, you'd be amazed at what you can achieve with it.

Cameras are no different to metal detectors, once you learn the basics, gold can be found on every outing, and just like this forum gives out advice on detectors and settings...so to do photography sites.

I don't have the time to learn photography but I know where a good shot is. I really need a photographer following me to grab some decent shots and am looking for someone closeby for shots of local goldfields especially at the moment as burn off are occurig

Given the talent iv seen here, im sure there are a few close by that could tag along with you for just such shots. Id do it myself....but im a tad far away.

It defies believe to see that much water
Knowing how deep and wide that channel is when in normal conditions.
We were in awe when we went over and looked at the water back in the Pasher Bulker storm
The noise was INCREDIBLE . I never expected what we saw and heard.
That was a wild ride for a quite few days!

Certainly was something special tabular. We had water knee deep in our yard for a week. The house was our own little island.
