I found something that all you guys with your own special Hot Spots need to be aware of if you are using your phones for talking pictures when you are out detecting because you might be telling the World where you find your Gold,

So this link might save your Retirement fund and stop people from raiding your favourite spots, Anyway checkout the first and most importantly the third post Ok,

Good luck, John.

All Good John,
This site strips the meta data for GPS locations automatically.
But it does pay to be careful. :)

Cool Mate, it don't effect me coz I will take you all to my sites aye, Bring ya Dog too the more the merrier.

John.

Best to turn it off & leave it off on your phone etc. No worries then.
I think when uploading photos directly to this forum server it removes meta data too? Not sure if you post photos via photo bucket or similar though?

Edit: as per Tath above.

I never turn my GPS on On the phone but I did not know about this until I read that, That's a great Idea about the forum software removing all that info for a person though,

John.

Do what I did last weekend - I posted a pic onto one particular Facebook group of a nugget I had just dug but tagged a location quite a distance from where I was just to see if anyone took the bait. Seems a few headed that way the following day :p

Good for you, Maybe I should send you a picture of the North Yorkshire Moors and you can doctor it, that would get em going, People die up there, a few years back I did a 40 mile walk up there in just over 14 hours, bloody place you can get all 4 seasons in a day up there, Geez I was buggered afterwards.

Some phones store GPS co-ordinates in the file name, but I have a camera that isn't a phone or anything else it just takes photo's  Ken.

Keep the GPS off when taking photos and the phone won't know where you are. Keep "location tag" turned off in the camers settings. This site stips GPS data also. There is no issue.

Some plain old cameras have a GPS in them these days also to tag co-ordinates. It's not only phones that have a GPS.

Not true. Not all data is removed.
If you look at pictures
The file number can give it away
