43% of all gold in the world are in electronics. I have a "lab" I built at my backyard where I extract the gold from computer parts, phones, basically any electronics. I use a method called aqua regia (mix 3 parts hydrochloric acid and 1 part nitric acid) there are other steps to it but I just wanted to let you guy's know that next time you think of throwing broken computers or phones you can always collect the
motherboard or the inside of the phone and have a little box that contains these and give it a go. I usually use computer CPU's for every kg of CPU'S I get from 5-11grams of gold (depending on the cpu)

Very toxic chemicals are used so being safe is the most important part (this stuff can give you first degree burns without a problem)

I enjoy prospecting a lot but it's no different then having a job but still having a money box =)

That's an interesting topic mate. I'd love to watch a video of your process in action if ever you decide to make one.

Nugget.

not sure what this is all about, can you be more specific ? where is the gold in a computer?bulldog

What Nugget said :)
I'd be very interested in more info.
I know that it can be done but not how.
I have a large collection of old fones , hard drives etc
Any further information would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

When you look at a circuit board you see these gold looking things where the end's attach to your computer or what not, most people think that its just painted gold but really its actually 24K gold. The older the item the more the gold but don't go thinking about having millions haha.
Same with phones, usually old mobile phones will have gold around the earphones and the inside. The gold you see on your circuit board which is commonly in your computer like a graphics card is what we call "gold fingers" it's because we cut that part out then melt it down with strong acid, that breaks down all the metals that you will have in a normal circuit weather its copper or brass etc etc however gold is so strong that it doesn't dissolve so the end result will be this big mushy toxic looking thing the next step is to filter it. We throw away the waste, the mushy stuff and keep the liquid because just like panning the gold is in there so we basically pan for it now haha but way different, we filter the water and all we have is this dirt looking thing which once melted down is gold.

This is pure gold and I've made a killing over the years with it.

There is no need to make a video because it's already catching on to a lot of people. I mean why do you think phone companys want your old phone? They say "ohhh we use the parts that work and build new phones from that part" ok.. well how do you build a Iphone with classic nokia phone? haha

Anyways, in this video this guy is dissolving CPU cards just like me, there are many methods and many other ways to extract gold from stuff.

I suggest you guy's get to work on being mad scientists

Dont buy any phones or anything, if your family and friends have any for free then thats great but if you start buying them in bulks thinking you;ll triple your money then you will be wrong as hell haha

Just remember that there is 4-5 different methods of doing this and getting the same result, you just need to find the right one for you.

When the misses yells at you just tell her your cooking some gold =)

Actually most if not all metels can be dissolved in acids of one type or another, for instance Silver will dissolve in Nitric acid but gold will not if it is above I think about 12% pure. Where gold will dissolve in a solution of 1 part Nitric Acid and 3 parts Hydrochloric Acid into a solution called Chloroauric Acid. The gold can then be precipitated with Sodium Metabisulfate (home brew bottle steriliser , lol), with impurties such as Silver, copper etc staying in solution.

The gold precipitate is recovered via a filter paper, washed several times in distilled water and melted into a gold button with a lttle bit of boron flux added. Silver can then be precipitated from the solution with either a piece of copper or Sodium Chloride ( un-iodised Table Salt).

This method will yeild 99.99% pure gold.

Hopefully you don't poison the neighbours or any pets, native wildlife, or yourself, be very careful, should be done in a propper lab. Small experiments are probably safe.

Most computer chips and other electronic gadgets have gold plating on metal contacts to prevent corrosion and improve contact points. All the gold stuff on ram chips and cpu's really is gold plating and it can be removed this way.

Thinking of all the electronics I've thrown out and all the gold along with it :(
But with my record of clumsiness I think I will skip the handling of Nast chemicals and acid.

True true It's funny though I mean when you have this big greenish/black looking mushy toxic, you wonder where the gold is but as soon as you add sodium metabisulfate BAM its there magic!

The method I use doesn't dissolve the gold, if my gold is surrounded by other types of metal then I try to get rid of those metals rather then the god and adding sodium metabisfulfate, by adding to many things in the brew is just wasting my money.. so I leave that one out and use enough acids to burn everything else except the gold once that is done I filter it out, wash it with soap and stuff lol then I burn that shiit and make a button of gold or w,e

You can still sell the stuff I mentioned without extracting it I mean this method is getting really popular and I am sure some people would buy it from you just on its own to extract it by them selfs.

But you can always give it to me for FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE :p

What are you using, Nitric or HCL to dissolve the other metals out?

Home brew bottle sterilizer of course! (Sorry thinking out loud, could never figure out where to attain smb lol) where are you getting your nitric acid? I have been using "poor mans" Aqua Regia (sodium nitrate and hcl)
