Hi Simmo, we were distracted by others heading South and didnt get to the 2 places you suggested but thanks for helping. There was quite a bit of debate at the camp of going high vs low and we tried both. plenty of deep detector holes at head of gullies suggest high gold around but in the end the gold that NZ goldhunter and myself got came from gullies and around old creek scrapes/workings.

Be cautious, the place gets in your blood. Glad you guys had nice trips.
We were very keen to go to Palmerville Gold, and visited last week. After four days (paid for seven) we left, extremely disappointed. We are experienced 4x4ers and are on the road (outback tracks and general low grade 4x4 tracks). The information provided firstly didn't state the track conditions (we did read about them though from a review). what we found very disappointing is that it takes over one hour to go anywhere near where you can fossick, and those fossicking areas are HAMMERED. Everywhere you look there's a digging. yes, people are finding very small speccies, but for the money expended, the travelling required (fuel) and the lack of virgin land (when I say hammered, I mean you could clamber down to the most remote spot that's extremely difficult to get to and lo and behold, there's dig holes everywhere there too.). We have been to other stations and are thankful that those were far more price effective and delivered on their promise of finding gold.
Also, there were other people camped near us who also found the same experience. They too have made the decision to never visit there again. We're meeting these people at another site whereby we all experienced a far more enjoyable fossicking (and 4x4) expeirence.

Has the new track in and camp area that was talked about last year, been done, i am curious as much of the designated fossicking area was basically inaccessible, and camp was a 30 min drive from Butcherbird, which seemed to be the first productive area. as per. https://www.facebook.com/permalink....eCUoRCMXfHvye8gRVBtdPifAWl&id=102973501539617

Have noted a few comments on the area being hammered? As the amount of places open to public become less the concentration in those areas is bound to increase even further I think it would be fair to assume ? But claimed area is 237km2 thats a big area to hammer

Great information, was looking at the season pass but out of my price range as I would only use it for 2-4 weeks out of the year but very keen to come up .
I stepped away from Palmerville guys. Not sure what the response time is like but the old email and phone has been shut down
