Towards the end of last year i got permission (over the phone) to access and hunt an old site i had known of for many years.
At that time i had a couple of short hunts and got a couple of finds.
Last weekend as i was driving past the site i saw a 4wd in the top paddock ...so i stopped.
It was the owner that i had spoken to on the phone. He was picking mushrooms, and had a bucket full.
I introduced myself and we chatted for a while. He explained what was originaly on the site and its layout.
He had told me on the phone he was reluctant to allow access but since i was the ONLY person to actually track him down and ask for permission that he agreed to let me have access.
The site is quite large ,it is on a main road and has been TRASHED by trespassers over the years.
He told me that he had pulled down the remains of the house in the 80's to discourage people from entering.
Since then it has totally overgrown and is where the cows hang out to get shelter from the sun.
Today i spent a couple of hours clearing bricks and timber to gain access to the ground below.
This will be a spot that will require a lot of effort to detect successfuly but thats what im gonna do .... a bit at a time.
Heres what i got today
Didnt expect this to appear as the dirt washed off
The pennys are 1883, 1907 and 1948
