Long time lurker, i have now taken the plunge and joined this great and informative forum. i hail from the Port Augusta region in the red desert of S.A. I have been cutting opal for over 15 years now, and have recently in the last 3 years started making sterling silver jewellery to compliment my stones cut. Not into doublets or triplets only solid Australian opals. Currently setting up my first business in opal, selling my pieces via an online store, which is a way off yet. Hoping to connect with like minded hobbyists, thank you very very much. Regards pinfire. :)

Welcome pinfire, would love to see some of your work :gemstone: :gemstone: :gemstone:

Welcome to PA pinfire.
I have a soft spot for opals, and as the previous members said, I look forward to seeing some of your work. :)

Cheers,

Thank you guys for the warm welcome, that is one thing i like about this forum, good honest people willing to help anyone. As soon as i work out how to post up pictures, I surely will show you guys some of my completed work, still building up inventory at the moment. I only use 925 sterling silver or some budget pieces in stainless steel. :)

Photos need to be below a 2Mb size limit, that is the main trick.

Will be nice to see some Opal's...

I am hoping to make it up to lightning ridge some time soon to look for Opal's...

Goody :)

Hi Goody :) . I have never been there myself either , been to Coober pedy and Andamooka loads of times. i have a great supplier at the ridge by the name of Susan, she is a lovely lady and a top supplier of black and semi black opal. There is a young man named Justin from there who i would love to meet one day, he is a top grade cutter and does youtube videos under the name, black opal direct. Very imformative to say the least. :gemstone:

From going through old posts on this forum, i think there is a member Syndyne from memory, sorry if i am not correct on the name. As he is a Ridge local, hopefully he may touch base as i cant send messages as yet, 10 posts needed first, would this be correct ? :playful:

I have seen Justin on u tube... He does a great job.

Susan... Is she the one they call the opal Queen?

My mate would no them all from up there,

Hi Goody, im not sure if susan is known as the the opal queen or not, but i have purchased opal rough on ebay from a person with that user name, susan is under another user name. does your mate supply rough opal at all ? I am subscribed to justins channel, i have spoken to him before via the comments section, he usually always responds to you. Been busy taking lots of pictures for website, so i will post a few up soon as i am allowed. :)
