hahaha morning Steve yep came throught mate look forward to checking some tunnels out.....

I bumped into a few blokes coming out of a shaft on the weekend in creswick, thought it may have been you two....

Hi Dean,
I found one in that area on Saturday ,
It only went in about 5 metres but it had
a wide band of quartz (30cm) from top to
bottom on the back wall.

The Creswick Forest was ablaze today. Decided to explore around Blackwood. Found four tunnels very quickly. They had all collapsed inside. When I have company I will explore these mines further.

I think I'm going to call you Dean the Machine.
Your prolific in your search for tunnels.
Top work mate and once again great photo's.
Cheers steve

"I think I'm going to call you Dean the Machine."

Finding tunnels over at Blackwood is not too difficult. They seem to have them all over the place.

"try finding a mine shaft in ferns and long grass with shrubs"

Have that problem over at Black Hill. There may be a shaft hidden by ferns, blackberries and gorse and I'm exploring looking for a tunnel and can't see the ground below my feet. Not ideal.

hi dean ill help you dig it out again I've dug out a lot of entrances to old mine/tunnels myself :)

Thanks for the offer. However, by the sound of things the entrance may have been blasted and is currently under tonnes of rock. Will keep you informed. In the meantime this one is at Little Bendigo and needs digging out. There seems to be a shaft at the back of the entrance that goes down on a steep angle.

Hi Dean,

this one actually heads down and joins on to the one you have shown in post #285. From there it heads west about 130m, it does not branch off in any direction for that full length.

Hi, Thanks for this description. The entrances need digging out a bit before I venture inside. Is the drop far ? From what I can see it looks very steep and then you could be stuck inside unable to climb out.

By the way, have you been in any of the tunnels under Black Hill ?

Thanks

Dean

The tunnel of death north Ballarat - the drive goes down at a sharp angle. Walk in a few metres and you soon realise there are two shafts at the end of the tunnel. The ground is slippery so it would be very easy to slide down and then drop over into the shaft. Air is moving through and I think there is another entrance on the other side.
