Nugget finder XP coil?

Hi All,
Was curious about some details or experiences with the XP coil, how it works and someone that has used it or still is, how do they find it - is it there go to coil?
I also realised some have the switch on the coil and some with the switch on the cable, I am guessing the cable is a later model?
Keen on some input and feedback (this would be run on a 3000).
