WT 🥴 are you going to correct every incorrect entry.
Yep, fair question.

Going through all of them and they all have a number before and 3 or less numbers after the decimal. Dihusky’s is the only one that will be a forfeit and I’m happy to call it that now as there has been a few reminders given.

Good poke RM 😉

Sorry Dihusky.

Afternoon ladies and gents.

The comp has been run and won - although I’m not sure who yet. No further guesses allowed sorry.

The species have been crushed with the bigger bits picked out and the rest panned which was pretty interesting.

I’m dropping in to see old mate with the accurate scales soon and will update everyone later.

Thanks to those who joined in ;)

Well, it is done!

Congrats to maxwell4 on winning a pretty little cornflake nugget from central W.A.

And congrats to Norman182 and Lesgold for 2nd and 3rd place with prizes kindly offered by mbasco.

The speccies were on an A4 size piece of paper and I suppose the hint re: how much gold might be in them was that they were found with a GPX 6000 which will hit on tiny (fly crap) specimen gold.

See the pics at the bottom but I crushed up the bits into little pieces and then waved them over the GPX6 and took off the bigger bits. I didn't know if there would be much more left but got it down to a size where it all went through a kitchen sieve with much of it being powder.

Panned all that off and was surprised to get another .20 of a gram or thereabouts from it.

A mate has made up a little 2 head stamper so might get a few more specimens (even if they don't sound off on the GPX6) and just see what comes out. 1.2 grams from about 3 kg of rock is certainly not representative of the ore grade I'm thinking but worth a proper look perhaps.

maxwell4 - if you p.m. me some details I'll get your nugget into the post on Monday.

Norman182 and Lesgold - if you can p.m. mbasco please.

Thanks everyone for having a guess and Merry Christmas to all. I hope we all get the prospecting gear we are wishing for (I know I ordered mine today ;) ).

Thanks so much for this great comp, NE. It was fun for all who entered.

From the numbers you've tabulated above, clearly most of us were hoping for a much better outcome for you in the final wash-up than was actually the case. Hopefully 2023 brings you plenty of rich finds to make up for it.

Best wishes for a safe and happy Xmas/New Year to you and yours.

Yeah, I knew all along it wasn't going to be much. When you guys first mentioned a speccie comp I thought I only had that little handful but had forgotten about the few bigger ones I had stuck in a bag for a rainy day. How do you forget about gold!

I'm hoping 2023 is an incredible year on the gold but to be honest, 2022 has been pretty good to me. 76 grams in WA and I guess about 15 grams in Vic. Some more sold today and pretty much the last of my gold is already sold and due to be collected next week. And some different plans for finding the yellow in the new year.

Exciting times 🥳

Thanks so much for the comp NE. It’s stuff like this that builds community and provides a bit of fun for us mugs out there. Hope next year brings you a virgin patch and a grin to match.

Cheers

Les

A big thank you to Northeast for arranging the comp. What a lucky guess. As I also won a couple of prizes in Greenhornets comp, I will refrain from entering any further comps to give others a chance lol.
Once again thank you Northeast
Cheers
Bob
You're on a roll, mate! Buy yourself a Lotto ticket for the trifecta. :D
