Hello all,

I have recently purchased my first detector xterra 705. I am a baby in this wonderful new hobby. But i am hooked discovering my first penny on my very first hunt at the local park, digging up pull tabs, cans, bottle tops, i still continue its so addictive. I will continue to scour the local park till there are no signals left and then do some more research and move to my next park or world war encampment.
Im keen to know when i am detecting i am only digging the signals with a plus signal, is it worth digging the signals with a minus in front of the number?

I am also being very careful when digging using the screwdriver method when i can & making sure I leave the site as i found it, so it looks like i wasnt even there.

I am sure that the site i am at the moment hasnt been fished yet and is virgin ground, as there is so much crap in the ground, well all the better for me right!!
Would be good to hear from other members who like doing research about local parks and the best place to find information.

Negative = steel = crap or an old colt pistol or a tin full of sovereigns or a mystery item that can take hours to research.

If a site has good age about it, digging all targets can be personally rewarding from a historical perspective. I have found a variety of pick and axe heads that I prize just as much as some of my SDC nugglets.

The 705 is a great relic hunter, enjoy
