Hi guys,
Just wanted to introduce ourselves.
I'm Wes, and Fiona's my ever-patient, long-suffering wife. I caught the gold bug when we visited Ballarat last September.
Since then I've done a bit of panning, mainly skirting around the ACT with the occasional venture out into NSW when I get the chance, but sadly thus far without a massive amount of success, although the thrill is in the chase, as they say...
I try to get out and have a fossick whenever spare time permits, and might even have a bash at some detectoring one day.
For the most part so far, getting out on the open road and taking time to appreciate the beautiful scenery all within about an hour from home has been worth every bit as much as the adventure of trying to find a place to get my pan wet!
If anybody knows of, or wants to meet up and try out, anywhere worth a pan that's close-ish to Queanbeyan or around Canberra, drop me a line.
