Hi All, I have got the bug, I have been watching that show, Diggers on TV and looking at a lot of youtube vid's and It's bitten me. I would love to find historic artefacts, coins and yes nuggets would be nice. So I am new to all things prospecting but I have splashed out and ordered a 'Garrett AT Gold metal detector, it should be arriving soon, so excited. Dose anyone have any feed back on the Garrett AT gold? I have this old site I would like to try out first, can't wait, then I would like to try and find some 'GOLD' but have no idea where to go for that, so research to be done there. Lot's of old bushmen's camps around where I live that I have found many a nice rare bottle or two, but what's under the ground????

Well just like to say hello to All, and plentiful prospecting for All. :D

Garrett AT gold is brilliant machine, it will find just about anything any ware, it is still a VLF detector, but with its range in frequency you can work in just about any mineralised soil "notice the just about" there are some places a pulse induction unit is absolute and a VLF is useless no matter what brand or model, i have found nuggets with my AT gold in Gympie so it certainly can be done.
where do you live?

Welcome to the forum todaystheday,

I own a Garrett AT Gold and find it to be a great machine for the price.

There's already quite a few posts on the forum about them so it shouldn't be too difficult to find some helpful info https://www.prospectingaustralia.com/forum/custom-search-results.php?q=garrett at gold

I wrote a brief review in another topic a while back which might be worth a read https://www.prospectingaustralia.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=13862#p13862

Also, see this topic for an (unfinished) overview of target ID's and depths on common targets https://www.prospectingaustralia.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=237

Let me know if you have any specific questions and I'll do my best to answer them.

Nugget.

Those posts are very informative nugget, good luck with your new detector mate. now i am gonna go down the park for a dig.

regards

jason

Wow thanks Nugget, I'm glad I joined this forum before I have received my new toy, lot's of stuff to read so I'm ready to go when she gets here, because i'm sure I will want to take it strait outside for a spin to find some cool stuff ( rusty nails will be first I'm sure ) but you never know.
