Has a calcite bit on it.

Fortune Seeker this is a nice smokey from Mooralla Vic - These grow/form in the decomposing rhyolite - you often get them in vughs of the harder rhyolite somewhat like a thunder egg. You occasionally get the crystals with water bubbles in them.

This is a really great place to fossick unfortunately there are two or three people that have forgotten that this area is a declared fossicking area and they mine the area for commercial gain. Their holes at times go down 20 - 30 feet with drives heading off them.

When I first went to the area well before the drop toilet was put down you found the smokey & amethyst in the creek at the bottom of the hill.

I understand this is one of the sites that will be used for the GEMBOREE field trips over the Easter weekend.

check out the AFLACA site regarding the GEMBOREE in Horsham

http://aflaca.org.au/gemboree/

There will be detecting & fossicking dealers there & they will be able to provide valuable info & demo's of the equipment available. Don't forget the tailgating where you will be able to snag a bargain.

I got the funny side out of all that Dughug,... is that going to end up filling the hole in one trip?
