Looks like a great detector, though it seems to me that this is what the Equinox probably should have been from
the get go.
Seems the Nox was just basically a gap filler and not very well designed, even though it is a great little unit to
use. Interesting that in the vid he says "equivalent to the CTX" regarding power/depth but obviously a lot faster than
the CTX. The Nox just doesn't compete with the CTX on the beach at all, it's good but not in the same league as the
CTX regarding depth and discrimination. Trashy parks is where it really shines and it looks like the Manticore will
be even better again in the trashy areas.
If Manticore can get the same or better depth on beaches with discrimination that matches or out competes the
CTX then it will be a great and very versatile unit, especially if they release a 17" coil. That's the best thing about
the CTX is that big coil, you can just cover so much ground quickly and hoover up nearly everything.
Anyway my feeling is if you've got a Nox and a CTX then the Manticore is probably not needed, more depth than
the Nox on parks is not really needed and if you use a CTX on the beach a Manticore won't be needed as the faster
speeds are really unimportant unless on a really trashy beach area, which is pretty rare.
I can see 3 real reasons to buy one and that's to upgrade from the Nox for beaches, the ease of use with a
lighter weight than a CTX and also looks to be a much better build quality than the Nox.
My opinion is that CTX will still be king on the beach with the 17" coil, happy to be proven wrong though.
I noticed there is no GPS on the Manticore also but I rarely use it anyway, some do like that function though.
