dug and sluiced this new little spot today, very pinched-sluice-ish

scott

No detector used and only a small hole dug
Now that's great going 20x water.
How much gold is that in weight?
Was the water nearby or did you carry your load to a river?
Cheers,
Uncle Bob

Well done 20
Did you pan or highbank?
What made you choose that spot?
Reeko

hi reeko, thanks mate, highbanked, sample panned below and worked my way up...SCRUCTURE ;)

thanks bob, not enough to put on the scales

somewhere between 0.5 - 1.0 gram probly.

carrying loads to water then busting up (clay) with the drill and geni, then highbanking it.

slow process, but now ive got my gear set-up and ready plus a more efficient plan of attack.

furniture trolley with a big tub mounted on it as my haul truck  , each load will be dumped into another alloy tub and filled with water to break down clays,
then go get another load, return, drill the last load and highbank it, turn pump off, dump previouse load in the alloy tub again with water...repeat process ;)

above the left rock is about 1ft of small river wash(not cemented), below is clays, to the left of the whole pic is a massive slab of sandstone/granite and this spot is another heavily eroded washout, yet to sample the ground on top of the sandstone where its all coming from. im just taking advantage of its concerntrations first

Mate that's a lot of work but I guess it's a start of a new area for you so I hope you do well, happy digging, sweating, high banking, panning and many happy returns...........

Cheers,
UB

Nice looking gold you've got there again scott Some of it has travelled a fair way & some of it is still quite angular as if it has just come out of the reef / dyke. One bit even has what looks like pyrite still attached. Ive just been reading up on the different structural settings that gold & base metal deposits occur in the area your working. Its covered by the Tallangatta 1 in 250,000 geological map sheet. & Geological survey Victoria VIMP report no10.

thanks mate, here are some examples of the the wash...

this one is some type of metal(non-magnetic), tried to grind it on a file and barely scratched it...

this one is highly metallic(crystalised)...

im well aware of the possible short travel distances of the angular gold...NOT going there this time ...reefs can be disapionting

only got a couple of hours run today, I knew it was going to rain so I decided to do 2 loads of the clay I dug from below the wash. the new process/system worked ok. it was pretty much an elimination/yield estimation of the lower clay and im glad there was stuff all in it because it took ages to drill/smash it to silt.

Got a good run at it today, started at 10am, dug and hauled 7 loads, highbanked and panned out a short run to make sure the wash had colour then ran the rest. all cons panned out and finished by 5pm.

Didn't have to use the drill as the wash didn't have much clay in it so saved time there. Going to use the wheel barrow tomorra so I only have to trolley the wash in buckets half way and load the wheelbarrow cause the rest is downhill

Todays yella...

its getting a little chunkier, still been doing a lot of testing and sluicing in this spot and I think im close to working out exactly what layer its in.

1 meter down on top of a sand stone bed...time to dig hard core
