Welcome to the forum Dave. You've got some great gold down around your way with the bonus of very few searching for it. The forum will certainly supply all the info you need to get started on this great hobby.

A small pick, a shovel, and a gold pan is all that's required to get that adventure under way. Look forward to sharing your stories and hope the gold cooperates for you. Best of luck out there mate.

Cheers Wal.

hello Dave
I've done a bit in the creeks around your neck of the woods in the past with varying success. If you can get onto a patch it can be very nice shotty gold Try the creeks around the Upper Thougla area.
Cheers Jethro.

Thanks guys

I will have a look around thougla this weekend

I'm reading a bit I will look for some gear tomorrow in albury

This will be a learning curve

should i be looking around the gravel type dirt around the creek beds and old beds, what is a good thread or link on were to pan around creeks and rivers.

Dave, Thougla is a hard creek to learn in as I think it has been dredged pretty well a few years before I prospected in it. We found it hard to access due to blackberries & waterlevel. Very slippery rocks too. easy to turn an ankle, or worse. I would like to do a bit more up that way when the weather warms up & the water levels decrease.

Hey Dave,

My family have land and more importantly two creeks running through it out at Cudgewa. I plan on going from one end of the property to the other sampling as I go. I also want to get some time and check out Mt Elliott. Lots of old gold mines up there.
