For arguments sake I'm sucking up sand yabbies.

Anyway, I bought a new wilson bait pump yesterday which worked fine in the store but as soon as I used it in the water it started squaking and carrying on with ear pearcing squeals. Needless to say it completely ruined the serenity :p Having only the experience of using one other bait pump which did not make this noise I'm wondering if there is a trick to stop it or is it just normal? I pulled it apart and washed it out thinking maybe something was caught and scraping, and tightened/loosened the washer which when completely backed off quietened the squeak considerably but didnt suck up much material, but thats the extent of my ideas :/

Thanks in advance.

Try a tiny amount of vaseline smearered about an index fingers distance up the pipe.
Also the wingnut can be temperamental and might require some fine tuning.
