Sweet finds Rocket, hope that ring is 9k. If you have an old ceramic tile lying around you could scrape a small amount off the ring on it's edge on the back of the tile, gold will leave a golden streak and the tile will rub through any plating and show whats underneath.
On ya Rocket, been wondering when a few rings might start showing up in the scoop. Hopefully it is 9K and not plated, though the ID should give you a rough indication.
Well yay its 9ct solid gold, my first beach gold. However it had cracks in it, and its now in 3 pieces My picking at it to be blamed, but its days were over as a wearable ring anyway. Its a my valentine ring, little loveheart with "my written in it" then the word valentine. Its soaking, should be clean soon, so I will glue it together tomorrow.
Got out late this arvo, hunt at 3 adjoining former house sites. I discovered it last year, but never got around to testing it. The homes around it are 50s/60s, so I knew it was going to be an iffy chance of old finds. All the pre decs I found were roo penny era, the 1950 sixpence was in a hole with two 1c pieces. All of the coins came from a small area, the backyard, guess them clothesline drops. Reckon I will do well on this site.
