Since I was in the process of counting all my coinage, and re-stowing my finds in new storage containers, I thought it would good to quickly take some snaps of most of the gear. The photos are a bit crap, but I'm sure it will give a good idea of the cross section of finds I tend to come across.

Despite raiding my coin box for several hundred dollars of goldies during the year, I ended up with $717.50, for a total of 1,976 decimal coins. So I will endevour to purchase a tumbler to get them cleaned up for a deposit. :)

Yes, yes, yes, I see it all, what a ripper photo shoot GP,...you've had a bonza time at it over that year, that's for sure, very well done indeed  .
Same luck times a thousand for this year to ya.

Awesome work Goldpick.

There's some good tips for beginners especially the amount of rubbish that needs to be dug between finds!

Cheers

Funny thing about all those sinkers is the complaints we get about the heavy metals in our waterways tainting the fisheries, yet we seem to be happy to continually add to the issue on a day to day basis. Pretty sure many places in the US have now banned them, probably for the better with regards to wildlife and table fish. Maybe they should use nice heavy gold sinkers, that should make for some good beach detecting. ;)

Some on the sand further up the beach, but most came from rocky areas on the low tide flats/gutters where the heavy goods settle, and most of the snags occur. Sometimes these spots were high and dry during extremely low tides, other times in a foot of water during middle of the range tides. :)

Goldpick you have a fantastic collection but also an impressive range of equipment. We want to do a little more relic hunting when we get time but our PI machines are next to useless once we get amongst the junk. The GMT easily out performs them but I'm sure there are even better machines that are likely less expensive as well.

Can you give me an idea of the good and the bad of the detectors that stand out amongst the ones you use?

Phil

Makes me wonder as to how that coin container holds up with all that weight. Do you carry it using the handle?
Great collection mate. My wife raided my gold coin collection for parking fees at all of of my latest hospital stays--$100's of dollars gone-"phweeeert".
Cheers :p
