This Sunday night channel 7 Sydney are running a investigation
In the western Australian gold fields about how many prospectors go missing or are killed ,and their gold stolen ,
Should be a very interesting show ,I know I've roamed around the bush alone in some remote spots in New south wales but never felt like I was ever in any danger ,
But if I was out in remote western Australia I'd be carrying a side arm or something as protection ,

Yeah I agree with ya there Simmo
Anything for a story ,no real journalist left, all government controlled media spreading fear and doom everyday
Only disagreement with that is that it seems more party-controlled than government-controlled. Otherwise catastrophe, gloom and doom sells, I look at the SES and neighbors helping each other during emergencies and that is good news to me, sad as any damage is.

Roamed around the WA goldfields for much of my later life and have never been worried about being murdered. If I was to be scared by anything it would be roaming around Inner Sydney after a late night meal any day. But they won't do a series of murders in say Sydney as it doesn't seem unusual news out of the ordinary 🤔

An average of 95 murders per year in WA, only 74 in 2021-2. A third were domestic violence murders and two-thirds occurred in urban areas. It doesn't leave room for heaps of prospectors being murdered. But why spoil a good story with facts.....

And my suspicion is that you would make more out of the average prospectors credit card, bank details and wallet than out of the gold they had on hand at any time. Ned Kelly carries a laptop nowadays....

Agree with you there Wall western Sydney's more dangerous than the bush ,it's defiantly a battlefield at the moment

There is 2,100,000 people in Perth if all 95 got murdered there, the odds are about 1 in 22,000 people of being a target. The number of prospector on the gold fields is well below 22,000 so the odds are low in my opinion. I will sharpen my pick soon. ;)

Carry a sidearm? Think that's a realistic option?
Personally, one of my biggest fears is getting back to my car or camp to find my fridge has been stolen!

It was an interesting watch.
Not so much media hype that I have experienced in the past.
So, not knowing the truth, I found the report to be balanced and reported with no decision portrayed??
Leaves 'what happened' up to you IMO?

All police are struggling with any investigations atm. It seems they are being sidetracked by other issues.eg, going out, doing job, make arrests, do all the paperwork, go to court, judges release on bail, re arrest same people again and repeat.
Just look at how cops are outfitted now.
Look more like the SAS than local friendly cop that I grew up with.

I predict there will be charges laid in the Khellet case in the very near future. Like what happened after the teachers pet pod cast
Hey guys this is the second time I've seen this report, but by a different reporter, and this time there was no mention of this couple going off in different directions on quad bikes as in the previous one,so it makes one wonder???? as for detecting for 18 hrs ,gee he must have been a very fit person or a very good porky teller
