Not good. After watching the full Wolf Creek series 1-6, makes you wonder that really could be a "Mick Taylor" out there. The locals don't really want anyone else out there.
Mmmmm???

Hey Jaros, wolf creek 1-6 ? I've seen 1 & 2 on dvd , was there a Rv series I missed ?
Cheers

I gotta agree where there is gold there is always corruption and violence .I would love to go up to the gold fields but there is definatly some people up there who dont want other people getting the gold and seems they will do whatever it takes to stop it .

I have a mate and his wife there atm, they bought a lease at or near Leonora about 2 months ago, and have been camped on it for about a month now. He is a good, operator, and usually pretty successful. Havnt heard from him for a couple of days, there is no signal at the lease, he has been checking in on facebook, so hope tomorrow he will post that theyre ok.

This report is "real life" someone has died, at this point reasons unknown and you carry on about some "TV F*****g drama!!!!"
I also agree with Nightjar, this is not something we should be joking about. The victim could be someone's brother, uncle, father.Think before you post guys. Davent I hope everything is OK with your mate.

I dont think jaro was meaning to make a joke out of it guys .Hes just stating that it is a similar scenario to wolf creek .People keep getting murdered and going missing up there and someone or something is obviously behind it .I wanted to go up there to detect but i know if i went up there i would be taking a backup with probably 100s of 1000s of dollars in the ground and lots of people who are all fighting for that ground . So for now i think ill just stick to beaches :). Gold makes people do crazy things .I just think the police need to really get on top of this before more people go missing .

Daniel,
As already mentioned this is a serious but rare tragedy and police will be closely investigating circumstances.
Unfortunately every time this happens people get the jitters and make outrageous statements.
This is friendly advice for you or anyone else who thinks they will be safe if they arm themselves.
WA is not the "Wild West", there are thousands of tourists & prospectors happily wandering around the goldfields every year.

Take care but don't be paranoid.

Hell of a long way from Wolf Creek , since my Daughter got a job at Fitzroy Crossing im always worried every time i hear of a WA goldfields Murder

Yep, they made a 6 part mini series - i watched it on Stan--quite well made compared to Wolf Ck. 1+2. Still very gory.
Jaros MA Rating

"A number of people are assisting police with their inquiries."

That's generally code for they have arrested at least one offender, and are interviewing them and any witnesses, but charges have not been laid. Far from a Wolf Creek scenario.

I think you mean they are holding at least one person, because they can't arrest some one if no charges have been laid. They are just trying to find out which charges to lay!

Nope, arrest is essentially the process of detaining someone. Charges can come later, for example after the suspect has been interviewed, and usually legislation sets out how long the police can hold you (whilst under arrest) without laying a charge.

Pretty sure they can only detain you for 24 hours (unless terrorist related) before charges must laid, or the detainee released from custody?

In NSW it's only four hours (subject to statutory time outs). This period can be extended by up to 8 hours if a warrant is issued by an authorised officer. In WA, the period is 6 hours, with an extension of another 6 hours if approved by a senior officer. After that, they need approval of a Magistrate.
