Doesn't really say if it will be open to all prospecting?
It mentions a tender process aimed at companies to be awarded the exploration rights so I wouldn't expect a free for all!

Yep jaros ,the farm i grew up on is west of that map , we don't own the farm any longer, it is all farming land.I came from the town of dingee, family said the reef/shelf under the farm covers approx from mitiamo north of dingee to just short of raywood to the south, about 30km as the crow flies ,they did say how wide it is but i can not remember the towns it is under(having a brain fade) yep a bloody big hole

International Companies  why not a local company that pays tax to our economy. Wouldn't surprise me if the current scumbags in government sell it all to China, smells of shifty politics if you ask me

Nothing to get excited about if anything this could cause us to loose more ground than what is already at stake  And to say East and North East of Bendigo is that not part of the ground we just lost under Djadjawurrung ownership :8 could mean the Djadjawurrung people might end up with some extra coin in their pockets.

HI mbasko, i have never seen a polly let the truth get in the way of a good story, the area where i come from the locals say the reef is 200 to 300 feet deep,it may be the same in the mapping area,my area and the mapping area is all dry and irrigated farm land,i think it will be all exploration ,same were i came from

Mitiamo has a Deep lead under it that they have been researching for some time. But from memory its a DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP Lead, and it wont be of any use to us lot, and especially since most of it is on private grazing land.

It is open to all companies, not just international ones. This is nothing new, they have been doing this for decades. Companies have to tender, guaranteeing that they will spend a certain amount of money on exploration, and the one that offers the most for the part of the area they want (as well as adequate expertise) gets to spend their money on it. The government has introduces a new 2.75% royalty on any gold produced that goes to the Victorian government, that is inexcapable, on top of normal Federal income tax on profits. Mining is around 60% of Australia's exports and directly employs 200,000 people, and provides $30 billion dollars per year in taxes and royalties to government. Damned if I know why we have these myths - it is not Google or Apple that can shift around where they supposedly earn their income because they are on line. There is just so much mythology about mining - without it our economy would collapse overnight - it is worth many times our total agricultural exports of all types.

We have foreign investment because we CANNOT raise the money in Australia for big projects - not even a small percentage of it.

This release has no relevance to prospectors.

Won't benefit us in any way, the title "More Land Access" is a media hype. There ain't noth'n in it for the small scale miners or prospectors.

While I may not be impressed with the Victorian government, I don't quite understand how it differs from what the Federal government does.

https://dfat.gov.au/trade/agreements/in-force/chafta/Pages/australia-china-fta.aspx

China has long been our biggest trading partner - exports to China are two and a half times what they are to our next biggest trading partner, Japan. It is also our largest source of imports, exceeding Japanese goods by three times.

The agreement is a NON-LEGALLY BINDING agreement for Victoria to work together with Beijing on future infrastructure projects for the benefit of both parties, by getting access to the hundreds of billions of dollars of projects slated for the Belt and Road initiative. Two Chinese firms are part of bids for the $16 billion North-East Link. It will mean a bigger market to sell wine, beef and lamb, as well as an opportunity for Victorian institutions to teach future Chinese doctors (International education is already the state's biggest export). It is likely to ease the way for Chinese companies to get approval from Beijing to make investments in Victoria, and for Victorian-based companies to sell to China. For example, the partial granting in April of a licence for Bellamy's infant formula to sell Chinese-labelled product after years of delay came just days before a visit by Mr Andrews to Beijing for a Belt and Road forum.

It seems to me it is rather different to security-related issues like the 5G network. And it wasn't Victoria that sold NT port facilities to the Chinese (which did appear to have a security aspect).

I'm just not clear what the issue is - do we want to decrease our trade with our largest trading partner? And how does this relate to the release of new Victorian gold exploration areas?

All polly waffle,i don't think there is anything for the fossicker or the small timers.Don't want to highjack jaros thread, but where do they detect at dingee, read somewhere that they do detector tours there

You might want to go and state those facts to the protestors out the front of a Mining Conference held in Melbourne this week.
Amazing what the media has said in support of childish distortions from the left about mining.

Goldierocks.
You like to quote facts and figures, which is good.
But did you know that we only see what's in front of the curtains
Go behind the curtains and you will see the real reasons.

Communism ( China )
Socialism ( Australia / Europe )
Capitalism ( USA )

Now look at what freedoms you have under the above 3.

China ( Cheap rubbish products, no respect of copyright and patents ).

Daniel Andrews ( Premier who is going to restrict access for prospectors to GT ).
