Thought I'd do a little update and thoughts on the vanquish 540 and compassion to my xterra705 since my last post on it back in January this year.
I've definitely improved using it. Going over the same grounds I hammered with the xterra705, it is turning up more gold coins, and 1 chunky stg sil ring.
I like the big coil the vanquish comes standard with compared to the smaller 705 coils which is why I bought a bigger 12 inch dd coil for the 705. I definitely recommend any 705 users invest in that! It's pretty lethal.
The vanquish doesn't feel as solid as the 705. I've noticed a bit of movement where the shaft connects to the controls. There's only 1 small allan key screw that holds it together, they probably should have used 2 screws.
Target ID I'm getting better at, but unless the target is an inch from the surface, it can be hit and miss compared to the 705. If you don't mind digging every target then that won't bother you.
Target depth is pretty much same as the 705.
The Minelab rechargeable aa batteries it comes with take so long to recharge I gave up and bought some.
Both machines weigh pretty much the same. Nice and light.
All in all, it's a pretty good unit. Is it as good as the 705? In my opinion if that counts for anything, and for hunting coins, it's a very very close second to a 705, but only if the 705 has the bigger 12 inch dd coil on it. :Y:
