Minelab Swing arm - question, thoughts.

I've broken the plastic, jagged thingy...again! I think this is the 3rd one.

I quite like the Minelab Guide arm. Works well, is light and simple and a necessary bit of kit but there is definitely a weak point.



And I can't seem to be able to buy just that part, I have to buy a 'kit'. $47 thank you very much for a bit of plastic and rubber.



I can see it as a single part on the Minelab website but that seems to be only for 'Minelab Partners' - I am guessing dealers?

Anyone know where I can get just the part for a more reasonable price? Any aftermarket makers of the piece?

yes I know what your saying Northeast, I've broken a few as well, they seem to get brittle after a year or two and snap, some tape and zip ties to get it going again till I'm able to get a new one, I know, should have a spare in the kit but hey it might just get brittle sitting there waiting, who knows

We will see how long this temporary (permanent ) solution holds until I get the proper bit

Slipped a length of shrink wrap over mine and shrunk it.

This was my last repair with silicone tape, I put it up there with duct tape and cable ties, it keeps flexible. They use to sell this stuff in a container with gauze as a tradies bandaid, the only way to get it off was scissors.
I use duct tape first to join, then wrap with the silicone tape as it only adheres to itself.

On a recent trip I put the swing arm off the 7 on the 6 as I kept instinctively going to grab it when picking up the 6, it was a little loose as the 7s shaft is thicker so needed packing out.
I bought a new swing arm kit the other day while browsing the prospecting shop, it now comes with a rubber insert for the 6000 bonus.

I had a 5000 and put a Gpz arm on it. I took the end off of the arm and fitted a bit of heavy duty car heater hose on it. Nice tight fit one with a few inches sticking out. Then used a bungy holder, the bit that goes around the shaft, drilled a hole through the heater hose, push it in to the open bungy holder and put a coil nut n bolt though it to hold it. Too easy and will never break. Had mine on for on for a few years with no sign of giving in. Guy I sold it to is probably still using it.
