Can anyone help with where to buy a new or used sdc2300. Does Prospecting Australia support any particular suppliers and if so do they give our members a discount. Am i dreaming???
Thanks Luckyfive.

Yes! my "Black Widow" head phones are nice and clear with the SDC 2300 and the side speaker is silent when the head phones are in use, I was thinking of getting a booster for it, but I think I will stick with the head phones for now.

Minelab will say the internals are nothing alike, but I find it very hard to believe. Same start up tones, same threshold, same gay headphone jack, same emi immunity, same pi technology(mps), same amount of settings.

I've seen a few floating around eBay usa for $500-600usd buy it now but they seem to go fast, the standard f3 is also telescopic water proof and bi-polar? Seems to be more of them around.

The SDC2300 isn't MPS its MPF a new timing that is unique, to date, to the SDC.
Google MPF technology & have a read.

I'd be inclined to say same machine different code on the MCU inside. Just as an example, Atmel make a Microcontroller called an ATMEGA128 (amongst others) that are a 8 bit computer in a single package running at up to 16 MILLION instructions per second. They are programmed using simple to learn languages and if you can imagine a electronic project there is a ATMEGA microcontroller that is suitable. It would not surprise me in the slightest if the Minelab machines ran a MCU of this type. Just for interests sake, Fisher and Teknetics machines run on Microchip PIC microcontrollers. The Gold Bug Pro runs two of them side by side.

So it is entirely possible for the internals of two machines to look completely identical internally but still be extremely different machines with different characteristics and operating parameters.

Ah now you see I ment to type MPF, I thought the F3 compact was MPF also, but it is not, it is MPS. my bad.

Crikey, Ben's a computer geek....... :) Just joking mate, great skills to have in the modern world.I'm an Audio Engineer but buggered if I know how the digital equipment I can use actually operates. :(

Before rushing out and buying an sdc 2300 at $3990 I thought I'd ask here and see if anyone else has managed a better deal on a new SDC and from where? I noticed a used SDC up for sale on gumtree recently for $3500 and the original owner states in his ad he paid $3700 new so I'm thinking there must be some good deals going round somewhere...

my thoughts would be to speak with bendigo gold in Melbourne as they own miners den here in adelaide for a better price on the detector or maybe some gear included. I got my CTX from them then the 17'' coil deal came out the following week after i bought mine, the contacted minelab and i ended up with the coil and a good deal on the detector.

The add you may have seen could have had a trade in for money off the SDC
