My girlfriends english mastiff doesn't even produce nuggets that big. Wow, that's a dream find right there! Makes me wonder how immune the VLF machines are to EMI in the same situation.......

The actaul size of the nugget would be cool
Like having a 20c piece along side it.

Thanks for sharing.

So thats 6.5 ounces..or do you mean grams? Hard to tell without something not next to it for scale.

6.5 ounce from the report.
Note to anyone photographing nuggets - put something easily identifiable, like a coin, near it. ;)

That's great PT .... now just need to know what's available in the way of external speaker set ups, any that you can vouch for to suit SDC/GPX units ...... hearing aids and the Koss headphones are a pain.
Trust the road trip is going well.
Cheers Tom

I used to work in the industrial market for Hearing protectors, and this issue used to come up a lot. The problem we found is due to the earmuff being closed and sealed. As it was designed to keep the noise out. However the active hearing aid was looking for sound and would keep looping and the user would have issues.

The solution we found was to use electronic earmuffs with what we called active hearing. The enabled the user to hear outside noise and if any noise was above levels it would cut out this sound and then adapt to suite. We never had an issue. I can not see why it would not work with this setup. I am not technical in the working of the speakers and ohms so I cannot be sure of that. It is worth looking into.

The brand I suggest you should look at is - Peltor/3M

This is what we sold them, this one you can adjust volume and tone in each ear - http://solutions.3m.com.au/wps/port...0000_nid=PMT1K9ZHKCgs2LQ9XKZD98glVB40FGHRV4bl

There is a small lead adapter to allow you to go to the headphone jack of the detector. http://solutions.3m.com.au/wps/port...0000_nid=WWPVT030PTgs2LQ9XKZD98glPDJPHC9VGLbl

You would probably need an adapter, or go the US or Europe site for a better range of plugs.
edit - I am quite sure Phase Tech would be able to adapt these at a fee.

Not cheap but will last a lifetime if cared for properly. Hope that may help. I am sure there are cheaper options as well.

Thanks Westaus will have a bit if a search on those links .......
Did an online Blamey Saunders hearing test both with and without the hearing aids and came up short in some areas even with the hearing aids ...... may or may not be missing target signals because of it, just not sure one way or the other.
Cheers T.

Tried my lead out today & it works great.
The B&Z booster + speaker worked very well with it although I couldn't use it for long. Detected through 4-5 showers + some small hail today so had to retire the B&Z. Once I make a few adjustments to where it's all going to sit/placement it will be my main means of audio for the SDC.
Thanks Nenad!

Mine turned up today as well. Pro job and top quality with fitting instructions and tips sheet! I have ordered a bluetooth sender unit and a sony bluetooth in ear bud receiving unit.

Hopefully it will work good enough for wireless digging.

I ve had mine down at the beach as well a few times and when your near the waters edge, the sound of waves crashing drowns out the sound from the headphones. Why do they make the volume at one level is beyond me.

I ll let you know how the bluetooth theory goes!

I received my adapter from Nenad for my SDC 2300 and it works great with my favourite set of head phones, keep up your good work with the SDC 2300 adapters, we are lucky to have you on this site resolving some of the issues with the SDC.

Hi Nenad, just wondering if these adapters are still available? Just a quick inquiry, do the connections fit the grey ghost headphones and how long are the adapters?

I purchased one of your leads from Ebay, arrived today, goodo as I leave tomorrow.

I got it to couple up with a B&Z Booster and look forward to using it.

The original headphones didn't pose a problem to me. Standard they are 800mm long.
I simply stretched then on the clothes line for 3 days, taking extreme care not to put pressure on each end.

Now they are 1600mm long and perfect.

Hi Willo,

Yes the leads are available.
I haven't tried a set of Grey Ghosts but every other headphone I've tried has worked no probs, so I'd assume the Grey Ghosts would work just fine.

The adaptor leads are just long enough to tuck the female socket under the armrest. They haven't been designed as an extension lead as such.

Cheers,

Nenad

I have Nenad's adaptor lead and use it with my favourite pair of Black Window head phones on my SDC 2300 and I'm very happy with the sound from them. Cheers!
