The smaller dealers are the ones who are happy to give you a bit of discount, ask the big dealer for some discount and you'll likely get the "short shift" There's going to be a lot of Minelab customers not happy if this is the case, and if it is I'll be ringing Coden and letting them know what I think.

Hopefully the ACCC will put a stop to Coden from manipulating the market if they are forcing dealers to only sell Minelab products. I guess it's up to the dealers Coden are pressuring to make the complaints to the authorities, but it might come back to bite Coden on the arse if the other products are as good as the Minelab detectors and loyal customers decide to start trying them out.

Clegy from Aussie Detectorist.... not happy. And he’s not the only one.
This is a Facebook video.

Minelab will live to regret this back handed slap in the face to their dedicated retailers.
Our own Minelab guru on PA is amongst them..... ffs.

Well done Clegy. Thank you for your input as to how Minelab works, their product has not been up to a good standard with the 6000, F--- them, they will pay for their choices.

Just ask Phil stearnes about Garrett samething a few years ago they just suit themselves I heard a few years back there terms and conditions were a bit of a minefield for wannabe dealers I probably get the feeling there trying to push unit sales back through the miners den or what they used to call perferd dealers

When we go into a dealership we like to have a choice of detectors not just one brand, maybe mine lab have gold detectors sewn up, but other brands out there are shining through with there coin and treasure machines, when it was dollar for dollar with the USA , we could buy the same detector up to $300.00 cheaper than here in australia, then garret caught on because australian dealers sales slowed down, so garrett told his USA dealerships if they sold to australia he would remove his product from them, the cheapest coin detector i own is a discovery 3300, its exactly the same as a titan 3000 except for couloured casing and $100.00 cheaper, back then it was on ly about 220.00 plus postage, and that little sucker is a killer on ausie coins and super light weight and has found more coins than all my other detectors put together, just push descriminated plus one more arrow which will dshow 4 of them, ground balance and get ready to fill your small bucket with coins. Discoveries were made for radio shack and changed from titan so they could sell them $100.00 cheaper.

Plus the move to online sales where they can sell direct to consumers.
There is more competition coming their way with the soon to be released Nokta gold and relic PI machines, probably with a much more affordable price to boot. The market is definitely in for a shakeup. Lots for the boffins at Minelab to think about.

I feel for you mate a few years back we were a well known outdoor products dealer in W.A. and over a few years a very large multi national company who supply multiple products to that industry did did the same to us as we sold a few different like brands in our shop, in most small country towns in WA the car yards sell multiple brands of cars it gives you the buyer the choice as the buyer, in some industys these big companys tend to not see the flames through the smoke, in saying that in our case that company ended up with a smaller dealer network statewide and i think it hurt them quite a lot. From my understanding there dealer network reduced by over 50%,with us having been a franchisy with quite a lot of brands over 20 years it cost us 60% of our business, this in turn pushed us to retire and as we found out some time later from there ex sales person this particular company is now instead of being at the top of the list of suppliers to that industry is now very much second rated!

Many years ago our CEO told management and the sales force to stop "wasting time calling on small customers that were only worth a thousand a month." So we obeyed fully knowing the outcome. Those customers were the backbone of that company and when the large $100,000 a month stop buying from you, you have to find those 100 x $1,000 a month that you told to FO. The business never recovered. Good luck Minelab, you will need it!!!!! PS- very happy with my Garrett AT Gold that I purchased from Nugget.

Any sale was a good sale where i came from.
I cannot even squeeze an off cut of coax cable out of them.
My guess they might need it for the New Submarine Sonar Enterprise coming soon our way.
Just a Hunch.🤫

Know exactly what you are talking about mackka
when we were growing smallcrops we ran no accounts ,cheque left at the counter as i left the shops
one shop on average we spent up to and above $2,000 a weak just on on cartons and fert
it stopped when a smartarse young worker gave me a mouth full over being a small grower
and quite a few other small growers were insulted as well so we took or business else where
one of the managers i knew personally rang and he asked why i was not shopping there any more so i told him
then he said that it is more than likely the reason why over the 6 weeks that(the local) boss's son worked there, that they were losing over $80,000.00 in cash/cheque sales a week
all the small growers effected were all invited to a BBQ and beer night for a talk with the company
and who was the person that stood there and apologised for the behaviour of the worker
none other than linsay fox himself
as he said at the meeting that no company like that can survive if you shit on your smaller cash customers and asked us back to be customers
and the local boss and his son found themselves looking for a job with very bad references

lesson learnt don't dump on the smaller people

What a sh1t situation for dealers who've put their heart and soul into the business, like Clegy and Nenad. Our old PA mod Ramjet (Rod) has lost his job with Clegy too, just in time for Xmas.

Every decent Aussie metal detector dealer I've known for the last 40+ years ends up out of business one way or another, usually by getting screwed by a manufacturer. It's a passport to misery, from what I've seen.

Nenad has always been a great bloke to deal with, and has done so much to promote the Minelab product.

IMHO what has happened to him is a dog act by Minelab! 🤬

Since Ian Aitken left, Minelab have, in my opinion, been a pack of greedy corporate thugs, who will do just about anything to stifle competition! 🤬
