If it's only going to go in the silver scrap pile,...give it the chop to see if it is like that all the way through,... maybe it's a silver alloy to give it the needed strength for the job,...or just silver plated the same as the gold ones are. :|
Been awhile since I have posted but have been keeping up to date with others find's. I have had a few hunts but cannot remember when/what/how/who or where so I will just post up some pics...
The little Tortoise is made of pewter, also the "BONNAR" plate is from an old mower from what I have found!!! Sorry about the photo spam but needed to catch up.
Great catch-up photos MZ,... your trend setting there mate,.. last time I did a catch-up it took a month and I was still detecting through it,... it's your way for me next time I get behind a long way.
Some nice finds too by the way.
Had a quick hour/half swing at a local oval which has been hit before by others but they seem to miss a lot of stuff..... especially the BB's... :| :| :|
The chain is a chunky bugger & happy with the 39 Thrip being the second coin of the hunt. Got my hopes up for more but alas was not to be. Still great to get out again finally!!!
Your getting some great finds there mate!! I too found a copper ring yesterday and your post verified it with the solder joint. At first I thought it was a coupler / joiner for a smaller diameter pipe but ill go with the jeweller shortage and homemade ring story too
Do silver necklaces / bracelets make a similar tone / number to another item you dig regularly? Like how a pulltab can sound like a coin
