Hey Guys,
during my trips and everything .... found someone that actually lives in an old quarry that has been closed ....
how is it possible ... ? who owns that land ... i know for sure the person has 2 caravans on the quarry + 2 extra cars ..... 1 dog .... 1 kid ....
i haven`t trespassed ... how do i know is by walking out the bush and finding and seeing from top of the mountain by mistake ....
All area of the odl quarry it`s surrounded by crappy fence ..... and also there`s a huge paddlock at the entrance/way of the quarry ....
the quarry it`s huge .... and i don`t understand how it`s possible to live there .... i`m even thinking myself to put some fences around a quarry that i found and chuck a caravan in there .... is the quarry land owned by anyone ?
I know i sound silly  ...

It may be privately owned or leased. My uncle owns land with old limestone quarries on it. Actually a couple of unlces do. Its quite common over here. Down this way old quarries used to get used as a private rubbish dump by their owners. I think that has mainly stopped these days as ppl are more aware of groundwater contamination.

If it's on crown land, I guess. My uncles are farmers and have owned the land for years. I couldn't tell you how long the quarries have been there. There is limestone everywhere down here so the there are quarries everywhere here. Cheap building material so heaps of houses here are limestone. Most of the quarries here are either on farms or under an operating mineral lease.

Most quarries would be privately owned by individuals or companies i would have thought. I doubt many councils would own them.

well i need to find out how can i put my hands on that quarry patch ...... beautiful view ......

If some one is living in it - how can it be abandoned???

If your that interested in how the fellow gets to stay there, approach him and ask - that's the only way you'll find out.

abandoned as there`s no more mining activity on that quarry

If you want to live there too, just take up the mineral rights on it and move in beside him, he'll be a good neighbor and keep an eye on your place too when your not there, ahhh new neighbors in the old quarry (sigh). ;) 8) :D    8)
