Yep - in Reedy Creek. Guessing you were downstream from the old crushing mill. This is one of the reason we have a Water Board - because of how polluted the hunt for gold made Beechworth waterways (not that it's much better now - that's toilet water you were panning in!).Hi all.
I popped down to Reedy Creek (near Eldorado) and ran my high banker for about 40 mins.
Ended up with a blob of liquid mercury in my cons.
I found this to be quite surprising (and disappointing) that it's way more that the gold recovered.
Anyone else seen it like this?
Yes you always find mercury in your pan in reedy creek and yet the number of people that camp there, still drink the water, and it is beechworths treated sewage water waste. They publish on e how much mercury was used in victoria and how much was only recovered , it was enormous.Hi all.

It’s such a waste. In Toowoomba they bottle their waste water and sell it back to you.Yes you always find mercury in your pan in reedy creek and yet the number of people that camp there, still drink the water, and it is beechworths treated sewage water waste.
