Wonder if the gang at Detector Mods would have any ideas, might be worth a phone call...
I vouch for what he has saidBigWave said:A Faraday cage (conductive shield) will shield your knee from electrical signals, but again, (I've said this over and over) it will cause even worse effects on the detector than your knee alone.
Everyone here seems to be thinking of shielding your knee, but adding that extra material impacts the detector more!!!!!!!
Get real folks. Why haven't Minelab or others done it if it's possible?
Me, I'm just an Electronics Engineer with over 40 years in electronics, RF Engineering and radio propagation (satellite and terrestrial). I have worked EMI/EMC with anechoic chambers for years and have presented many papers. WTF would I know about shielding my titanium knee!!!!!
Just learn to live with it - or - dream on.
Gee you certainly keep busy Ray, that sounds like a great experience to be had in Qld and then W.A.Ray and Lips said:Thanks for your interest flowerpot,I have been doing research on faraday cage. Can buy online for $40 for 30cm sounds interesting. At the moment have not had any time to go out with detector. Going to qld Wednesday for a month to work at commonwealth games, no rest for the oldies prepared to work. Will be home a month then off to wa for three months to test my detecting abilities out. Ray and Lips said:Heads up, there soon will be a cure without doing replacement so I have read. How far away from initial testing I dont know, hope it is soon for you. In the mean time just grin and bare it.
HeadsUp said:Very interesting thread for me , my knees are about 95 % knackered so i would like to investigate the options now for ceramic knee replacement , hopefully other options exist apart from titanium.... :/
