Hi all,
I've done a tad of gold fossicking , mainly with a home made gold sluice in Victoria , found a max of 1 oz in total, I've found nothing more times then I have found something ,I still love the thrill of the hunt tho .
I've recently moved to mount isa , to ironically work in a mine hahaha .
I will doing basically nothing but dry fossicking now seeing as it's in the desert .
From jacob :)

Hi AGH,
When I worked in Mt Isa Mines (1969-1971) the rumour was that there was enough gold mixed with the Copper Ore to pay for the running costs of the Smelter in Townsville.

My mates and I spent weekends tripping around the countryside in a Land Rover with long range fuel tanks, it was a great time.
We didn't find much gold, but I guess it was more of a reason just to go bush, we were young, single, and looking for adventure.
Mt Isa is a rich area and with today's technology like Gold Detectors, it will offer you the thrill of the hunt.
Go for it.....and best of luck.

My dad used to work at Isa to, about that time, might have been a year or 2 before perhaps, I'll have to ask him when he worked there. I think he told me he worked on lvl 14.

Hi Chewy,
I worked in the Machine Shop as a Fitter & Turner, and lived in the BSD Barracks, we only had to cross the railway lines and we were in the Irish Club.
After all these years I am still in contact with a mate who I meet there all those years ago, not bad aye.

Good Prospecting......
