Unbelievable what they do in china.... Wally69 mentioned to me one day that maybe that's why the occasional goldie will throw a different signal on a detector to most. I 100% agree with him on that, counterfeits.

I have seen a few fake $2 coins. They are black when you dig them up and weigh lighter than a real one.

I had a broke friend back when the $2 coin come out , he was just a kid wanting a sausage roll and a bun from the tuck shop and he would glue two 5 cent coins together and spray them gold , he would wait till the tuck shop was flat out and get in the line where the lady with coke bottle glasses would be serving , he ate well for a fortnight or so until the ladies were told to check every 2 buck coin . ]:D ]:D

That was a friend and he probably got a dozen, i was a smart bussiness kid and would stand in line for the rich lazy kids , by taking 3 or 4 orders at once i would make enough to buy a big lunch for myself with a coupla dollars left over $$profit $$ , then throw my dry old sangas in the bin

They aren't wasting their time forfeiting Australian $1.00 coins

They are only interested in high end Gold making everything from -

#South African 22ct Krugerrands
# Canadian .9999 Maple leafs
# American 22ct Gold Eagles
# Perth Mint 24ct Lunars
# Pamp certicards from Switzerland.
# yes even Chinese .999 Panda's

They are very cunning say using 50% Gold on the outside and carbide (?) on the inside tricking even high end test machines.

Australian $1.00 coins 8)

Yes they are believe it or not, why wouldn't they?? They counterfeit everything else.

They use tungsten on the inside not tungsten carbide, tungsten carbide is the wrong specific gravity, tungsten is almost identical in SG to pure gold.

And to top it off their are fake PCGS coin holders with fake coins inside that match the PCGS registration number. Really got to be careful these days with coins.

Yes,buying graded coins quite a few years ago before this took off gives more peace of mind knowing that you are 99.99% sweet :p

Those fake $2 ones look like they might be confused for 'error' coins....what with the uneven edge lettering...aside from confusing them for 'errors'...they certainly are easy to tell as fake.

I give 'errors' a wiiiide berth for just this reason...banknotes with 'provenance' i would trust, but the good ones are getting $$$

These are good error coins, though I've heard of people counterfeiting mules as well.

Pity this one I detected was hit by a mower...... :(

What a complete bunch of bastards. I try hard to avoid buying anything chinese (I won't even stoop to capitalise that one). Buying their laced food they/we get poisoned, and getting fakes thrust down my neck. Aaarrgh  I just hope that a tsunami gets their fake South China Sea islands soon. End the evil money-grabbing fakers please!

To be sure... i acknowledge the 'genuine' article, i just prefer not to be caught out by 'possible' fakes/counterfeit/copies. :D

Were i to buy any 'error/mules'...it would only be with those having 'provenance' and trusted & supportive documentation... :Y: ;)
