Thanx again everyone, you`ve all been very helpful , really appreciate it, would love to buy you all a DAB beer( best german and possibly best beer i ever tasted). I found out about 2 months ago i have a rare lung disease called (bronchiectasis) , the doc reckons it still in it`s early stages even though i`m feeling the full blown effects alot of the time, so i`ve decided if i`ve only got another 5-10 years left at best,i want to prospect as much as i can now, while i still can, and damn it ,i want to find at least one substantial slug of gold so i can truly die happy, not to much to ask hey?

Jus my two cents worth iron rock. If its a big strike your after you'd be better off camping in WA. Been there. Much better chance than Vic for finding big pieces. When I was there a guy I was detecting with found a 3.6 ounce....a 1.5 ounce. And a 1. Something ounce. In two days. Two of em were on the surface. One of the other guys found another 3 ounce also on the surface shining in the sunlight. No scrub in WA. Carpet of rocks. And where we were... No Rubbish. If I had the money Id be back there myself. Anyway good luck. Hope you do well. Regards...Ronnie.

I don't suppose you'de share the gps co-ordinates?

Went with someone else. Twas a couple years back. If I remember correctly it was around the Leinster area. I wasn't driving so didn't really take any notice. Great place to detect because no rubbish. In two solid weeks detecting every day only three of my targets were rubbish. Every other one was gold. I came back with only about 1.6 ounces. Biggest was a ten grammer. Didn't do as well as the others. Too much rubbish in Vic and topsoil. No topsoil in much of WA. Only trouble...Expensive to go there. Pity it wasn't just down the road hey? My point is if I had three months to detect I wouldn't do it here in Vic. I just reckon you have a better chance in WA if you have the funds to keep you going. Not in the hot months though and preferably go with someone. The place is basically a dessert. Anyway whatever you do have fun and good luck to you. Be nice to find a big one. Lucky we can dream... Regards... Ronnie.

Well guys W.A. would be great, but i`m not in a financial position and i dont have a 4WD vehicle, but dont you worry, i`ve got this all figured out, i wont just be detecting, what i have in mind should get me at least 2 oz`s a week, just depends if i`m in the right area or not. Vic produced the largest slugs in the world and there`s still at least one left with my name on it. Hard work deserves a reward and i`m banking on getting my reward one way or another. Thanks again for every one`s input.
Cheers!!!

Hi Ironrock , do you realise that prospecting is quite hard physical work ? If you're feeling full blown effects of your illness now how will you be able to do this full time ?

G`day Arroyo, Nice and slow mate, got all the time in the world, it`s all about pacing one`s self. i know what my threshold is, just make sure not to cross it, all will be good.
Cheers!!
