I bought a Sony xz premium phone last week and the seller is not very helpful.
The phone is locked with Telstra.
I tried calling Telstra but they are only taking calls for customers only. I'm with Boost mobile.
Is there any other way to get an IMEI number for this phone that is not charged a fee?
I can't ring on that phone to get the IMEI number because it's locked and only Emergency calls only?
The ring code to get the IMEI number is *#06#

The network unlock code is different than the imei number?
I thought I need to get the IMEI number first before getting the network unlock code?

Open the phone dialer on the phone press *#06# and then the call button. It will return a 15 or 16 digit number...thats your IMEI number.

I did that but it only allows for emergency calls?

Your phone is locked to Telstra. You need to get the original owner to get it unlocked and possibly pay any fees still owing. It Is like selling a car with finance still owing.
This is a security feature not a fault. It also allows you to bock the phone if reported stolen.

The phone was bought through a second owner who is probably not the original owner.
So that makes me the third owner.

How do you tell if the phone is blocked?

You need to contact the owner. It is hard to get it unlocked if you are not the telstra owner.
You could always get a telstra sim

This might be my best bet to get a Telstra sim.
Hopefully it will work.

Might be worth going to a Telstra shop or contacting Boost mobile to see what they can do.
