One lesson to familiarise yourself with the machine, after reading the manual should suffice. Doesn't matter which machine.
Then turn to geology, learn how to read the ground (Raw gold Springs tto mind).
Remember maps online, by Tully etc are only and indication where others have already been, albeit. With inferior methods.

G'Day Dig

Maybe it would have been better to leave it at that ???

What is this ???

You think I'm an ***** because I didn't follow Nenad around on the training day ???

Nenad told me a couple of things that tell me he is not 'collection' as much AU he you think he is.

So over 10 years I have tried to improve and I believed that the EXPERTS had something to offer so I was stupid enough to hand over my cash and get ripped off !!!

I wish I had got advise from you X years ago, then I would not have wasted so much of my time and $$$s with EXPERTS

Wow ease up was only saying is all . Now I'm certainly no expert but l also very rarely come home without some yella regardless of size. So your right, l should have just said not a clue or perhaps your just not a gold magnet?
But l do sense frustration and from my own experience if I'm not in the zone so to speak then it usually ends up not a good day.
Good luck lad

Got to look harder l reckon. Nenad from Phase Technical is one that finds AU on a regular basis in SA
Do you reckon the old timers got very last one? I hear of plenty (no giants though - most seem like this ).

The first one in SA was about 13 oz in the 1840s from memory, prior to the eastern Australian official discoveries (there were plenty of unofficial ones in the east before 1851). SA has a small gold production except for Olympic Dam, so that would be one reason I imagine. But there were plenty of nuggets in the few ounce size found.

"I will pay you to take me to a gr8 spot in SA !!"
Hey saau Looks like good spot to me, a classical run of diggings and the old timers didn't do it for nothing, they got gold.
If you are not finding gold going to known goldfields (the right places) then it has to be something else your detector or technique and not lack of gold.
Right down the bottom I see some holes surrounded by white, probably pipe clay.
That is the very bottom of the hole sitting on top of the heap now and is where the old timers found their gold. If you have any doubt grab a bucket and shovel and pan some of it off in the dam. I am sure that will give you your best chance of seeing gold (even if too small to detect) from a run of diggings and give you encouragement.
I once went to a Minelab training session in the Victorian goldfields and one guy was having a bit of trouble with his technique even failing to easily pick up signals from targets tossed down right in front of him. We were let loose for some free time detecting and the instructor visited each of us to check how we were going and to check our techniques and setting.
Seeing that the aforementioned guy was just not swinging right, the instructor buried a bit of gold in the ground near to where we were to reassemble for a break. He went back to the guy and told him that he had buried a nugget between where he was standing and where we had set up our tea table and told the guy he could have it if he found it, much to the chagrin of the rest of us.
We all sat back and watched him detect his way back. The change was remarkable low, slow, overlap, all the right stuff and he found the gold!
If we "know' that we are walking over gold we become much more patient and the gold will come eventually. Good luck and keep trying. we will be waiting to hear some good news.

Thanks guys for the info as I needed a reference point on where to start the research which I now have.
Didn't mean it to start a heated discussion.
And yes I still need to learn my detector better, also I have the Doug Stone maps, trying to learn to read the landscape and creeks etc...
Played a little with GeoVic, will give Trove ago, will also try and learn a little geology, but it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks.

regards

I'm not someone who has found any AU I don't believe anyone who says they have or can do it in SA, I have done a lot of research and been trying for 10 years. But, I have found gems, not in SA !!!

My only tip is use maps.go ogle.com.au and become really good at helicopter view.

This is SA

I have been to this spot a couple of times and it is 'scary' I couldn't find a house near by and only a land owner would leave such big holes.

Maybe they are to be back filled with ppl with detectors ???

Saau, Finding gold is something you must learn and for that you need an open mind to absorb much of the advice given by successful prospectors such a Nenad.

We took a quick trip around Aus, I think we were away about 4 months. We never visited NT, ACT or Taz because there's only so much you can do in the time you have however we spent time fossicking for gemstones, fossils and of course gold and we found gold in EVERY state we visited.

SA has gold and the locations where gold has been found are freely available with a little easy research. We chose Jupiter Creek because the type of gold that had been found there was what we were looking for. We camped on the grassy patch at the top of the hill and a quick walk down the walking paths showed where gold prospecting activity had occurred, recent and historical. We found gold there within the hour.

What you believe is not important to me but if you want to find gold you must have good equipment, do good research, take good advice when offered and be open to learn.

We also visited a spot in SA like you show in the photo. It was littered with shallow diggings down to about 2m I think to the alluvial gravel. It was somewhere near the eastern border but I can't remember the name. We never found gold at this location because the gold was in that layer 2m underground. Out metal detectors are only suitable for finding surface gold or gold close to the surface.

Saau, not sure who you are but I don't do tag a long tours, or prospecting trips. I don't have the time, and there is also the expectation of finding gold which I can't guarantee.
So my training sessions are purely instructional. As they are usually 1 on 1, I leave it to the trainee to tell me what they want help with, or how they'd like to spend their time. There is only so much you can cover in 4hrs, so the quality of training one receives is often dictated by the trainee, and the questions they ask. If you were not happy with the training then you just needed to say something during the session and we could immediately focus on what you wanted to cover.

I have trained many people in SA, many of which have become long term customers and friends, and many are finding gold on a regular basis in SA, some a lot more than I do. Some share their finds on social media, but many don't.

What Moneybox said is 100% true: ...if you want to find gold you must have good equipment, do good research, take good advice when offered and be open to learn.

Mr Lonic "Sir" pretty sure l am not alone when l say your reputation as both a person and businessman is held in very high esteem with many members on this forum and outside this forum also. Your unbiased reviews and many instructional videos also much appreciated. Keep doing as you do Nenad and wish many others in the business of prospecting followed your example.
As you well know, when your sick of finding no gold in SA, your welcome at my crib anytime champ.

I only going to say this once, no one in ten years has been able to take me to a patch and I have offered a lot of cash and BCs - I bought $2500.00 in BCs in '13 when BCs we free. So not short of cash.

I have been to Jupiter Creek, I have been to all the know spots, check the pic above, I found this from weeks of looking on google maps.

Anyone want to make some cash ???

You keep going on about "cash" ?
Doesnt matter how much you have cobber, you can't buy the X marks the spot as it doesnt exist. Thats why it's called detecting?
Perhaps you should try Gumtree for a leprechaun? .

OK saad, you got me. Posted something that I thought was genuinely helpful but you still seem to be rattling on about people (experts) not helping you. Your naming of Nenad Lonic, a respected member of this forum, among these is disgraceful. If you are prepared to bandy out other peoples names, you should have some decency and honesty to reveal your own identity.
Your postings show a lack of genuineness, being vague as to detail. For instance not revealing what sort of detector you use critcally prevents other understanding what your problem really is.
Your offer of big cash to someone to give up their secret spot for an amount (unspecified) of cash sounds like a scam
If you are a genuine member seeking help, time for you to put up some believable details about yourself and your issues or shut up.

so how much are you willing to pay for a known patch location.. give us a ballpark?
keep in mind obviously the volume of finds will be unknown, its just as much of a gamble me telling you as you buying in!

OK as you're a multi millionaire & you don't have to work so you have plenty of time available & cash isn't a problem, I'll assume (because you won't answer the question) you are running a GPZ7000 and have also probably just bought a GPX6000 and they'll prove to be basic tools that you need. If you have any others throw them away & get the right gear, you can afford it!
Come to QLD you can tag with me for an entire week for just $5k, 2 weeks $7,500 1 month $9k how much training do you need & how much can you afford? A week is 6 days sun up to sundown you sleep in I go without you, I'll take you to exactly where I'm going, an area where I got 7.5oz last winter with an average of over 1/2 oz per week best day was 1.2oz You will find gold! (as long as you come with one of those aforementioned machines and not an Equinox, Gold monster, GPX4500 or a GPX5000 (I know that's going to ruffle some feathers) and definitely NOT a Garrett!)

I'm offering exactly what you're asking for, a 1 on 1 tag, so it's time to put up or shut up. It's only money!

Your a generous man, l reckon one day in putting up with the **** I've seen and I'd be digging a hole for him and not to retrieve a target. Oh and please not to FNQ, Clermont will do.

I won’t be digging a hole for the multi millionaire, sounds like hard work to me (old timers have left plenty around the place).
I wonder how his Lamborghini will fair pulling his off Rd caravan on unsealed roads?
I've a actually stopped in Clermont for a few days to get into the "swing" of it for this SEASON before traveling further north - raining non-stop @ the moment so no detecting, TYPICAL!

.. and I want cash or gold only, not bitcoin or any other digital BS.
You could easily cash in some bitcoin, couldn't you? 1oz of gold = 0100001101001 00111001000100101 00101 of BS

My fee's are
0100100101100 00100110010 0011001001001 / day
