Morning all,

Was checking the web looking at prospecting supplies and information and came across this web site. I am new to W.A , Kalgoorlie. Moved here for work and was lucky enough to score a job almost straight away. Work 8/6. Kal is a typical working town, not much to do when off, so I thought I might have a try at prospecting on my days off.
Any advice, help and hints are welcome. As a Newbie my budget for detector will be around $1200 and was looking at getting also a gold panning wheel so I can shovel and check area's for flour gold.

If anyone can advise a good beginners package I would be happy to read their advice. Also if anyone on hear lives in Kalgoorlie/Coolgardie and has time to get together or has good used gear to sell let me know.

In the meantime good luck to all & hope veryday is a 'strike' for you ;)

Cheers :)

Welcome PeterB, good to have another westerner on the forum. Your in great place to get into prospecting, you'll certainly find plenty of useful information around here and guys willing to share tips and advice..

Check out my recent post about gold detectors around the $1000 mark https://www.prospectingaustralia.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=5827#p5827, it should point you in the right direction. Feel free to ask any questions.

Cheers,
Nugget

Thanks for the warm welcome Nugget & Axeman.

Was leaning towards the Garrett models mainly for price. But reading about hot rocks in your forum you recommend Minelabs.
Will do more research and questions asking.

In the meantime thanks for the replies

Peter
