Help needed on making simple Pulsator,Hibanker or Gadget for gemstones

Good morning All,

I am just chasing some information on making a simple pulsator, hibanker or gadget that I can run my wash through to catch gemstones. All my wash has already been through the trommel to sift out all the fine sand. Just looking for an easier alternative to the Willoughby/Sieves as that's quite back breaking.

Any information/photos would be greatly appreciated.

Gday and welcome michael, I've been looking at pulsators recently and how they work.
The strogest most effective ones spotted so far use a setup like this and use a tyre for a diaphram

Have you made one yourself yet or are you still looking?

I would be interested in building something simple that I can run 10-50 of the 20 Litre plastic buckets of wash through each time.

Do you think a HiBanker would work? I know they are primarily used for Gold but thought id ask the question anyway.

No have not made one yet, but thinking hard about the idea of one. The problem I've always come across is transport space and portability so things will have to be pulled apart and put together, which you do for a highbanker anyway. A highbanker may work but would need to have a few changes as many gems would possibly roll off the every day sluice. The WalBanker works great with the bread crete gem catch configuration, but if specifically want a gem catcher, I'd be using deep troughs still like a pulse jig system. It needs thought and imagination but is certainly possible

Yes transport always seems to be a problem. Since I would need to drag the Pulsator/HiBanker 1000km's up north size will be an issue for me also.

Are there any people that make the WalBankers specifically for GemStones? Id be curious as to how much they cost.

Not too sure if you would be interested in this, but a few years back, I put together a dry blower that can be operated in such a way that if gemstones get onto the sieve, they would travel UP the screen, against the flow of other material. Have got the plans for it somewhere. Its been sitting in my shed for quite some time, along with the motor for it. Let me know if you want to find out more about it.

Walbankers do quite well on the sapphires, you can always run a seive at the end of the sluice just as an insurance not to wash any out
