A disturbing incident.

There's idiots everywhere that can't handle a bit of pressure needing to resort to violence always.
I've been told several times by one bloke of people detecting right up in his face and tell him to leave etc and this bloke is nice as rain. Just arrogance and as always greed. Its why I hunt gemstones too, gold can turn a man crazed.

Mabey they jumped in an obvious worked on hole for all we know too and they wanted to take what he had worked.. 'you can't stop them being there'.. I feel there's 3 sides to this story, but still..violence isn't a solution. Arguing out on a goldfield isn't exactly a smart idea, nor is going directly to the first evidence of someone else's work to make your day faster, nor trying to claim public land as your own :|

Violence ................. never good but does happen it appears quite frequently these days and over much less than gold. Probably wiser to take the knee cap of the top of his knee .............. firstly he won't stand back up and secondly much less chance of killing him as can be the result of a hit to the head ;) I'd hate to think my whole world and life as I know it could change over something that one could have easily just walked away from.

Again could be more to the story

Nutters everywhere. You can never be too careful. Street smarts need to apply in the bush too. It's a sad world, but it's always been like this. I like to think man is getting smarter, but it only takes one nutter to ruin your day, or your life. I always meet people with a positive expectation that they will be good people, but always ready for a nutter. Then if I get a sense of a nutter cognitive processing sharpens and quickens with risk assessment and resulting retreat plan quickly established. It's like being a chameleon. You need to change your color to suit the situation. I learnt this self survival technique as a young boy. I was always the smallest and skinniest kid in my year, with many bullies and nutters about. I learnt to blend and fit, changing my perceived character to suit. It served me well in surviving the dunny head flushes, being beaten up, etc, etc.
Think this ability to fit and adapt with people helped me in a career in Sales, and now running a business. Sorry, got a bit off track here. Just reminiscing. Cheers

Where did it happen RJ? That guy wouldave copped my shovel, if he had tried to touch me. Its usually the non detectorists, the rare but nutter type that make threats.

Bring in Silver and his trusty side kick, nugget, they'll deal with those dastardly detectorist hating villians.
dada dada dada dada, dada dada dada dada , SILVER!!!

This story is about me and my friend steve. We were detecting a hillside down from some diggings near ballarat. There's heaps of ground there to detect and I'm more than happy to share unlike this nutter.
In hindsight, laying him out probably wasn't the best approach however I didn't have time to think and it sure was effective.
I just hope this bloke learnt that there are better ways to approach others when you think you own that particular section of the state forest. I hope he is reading this enjoying some nice warm soup through a straw

Hope your mate wasn't hurt too bad Walshie, good on you for helping and sticking up for him. The bloke who told you to go away sounds like a real nutcase. Violence is never good but self defence is needed sometimes.

Yeah he's OK mate. Had to go to the dentist to get his chipped tooth fixed but other than that he is OK. Bit of a scab on his chin and his gum has already healed up.
He took it like a champ and we were both rewarded with plenty of colour. Its a place I have been to a few times almost a year ago and I knew there was plenty of small stuff there. I figured we'd go back there so my mate can get his gold tally up a bit as he has only just started.

I camped down at slaty creek Camp 2 one night in creswick. This shady character in a commodore sedan drove down to my camp site about 5 times and would just park up and watch. There some really messed up people around.
Creswick state forest isn't a good place to hang around at anytime by yourself Chuky. It's seems to attract a fair few unsavory ferals unfortunately. I've had a few lots drive back and forth slowly past me at times and i've even had the local coppers tell me to be careful leaving my truck unattended off the main tracks and going too far away.

Haha I said that to steve once he had found enough to make a tooth haha. There's some messed up units about. I've been out by myself quite a bit in the past and it makes you question whether that's a good idea. Walking around with a 10 grand detector in the middle of no where could be pretty enticing for some.

Deliverance all over againNext time out take a crossbow and shoot the bastard in the ass.
