Don't really want to dredge this up again as I think everyone's had their say.
But I was watching the news earlier today about the 10 kids being killed in a high school in Texas.
The governor of Texas was giving a news conference where he stated that, "you can't blame the guns for what has occurred at the high school. Computer games and abortions are responsible."
How can the yanks ever have a sensible debate on the gun control issue, when they have boofheads like this running the country?
There blaming abortions now? Give me a break! 8)

No easy solution for the American situation. In Australia our firearms are generally there to do a job or for sport. In the states you might feel the need to have one for protection as all the grubs have them too. Circular argument here.

you have to blame abortions if they had aborted the killers, then the shootings wouldn't have happened but seriously you are right there leaders are really warped in there beliefs

hum ill share my story I was camping in the goldfields with a mate at night we saw some locals young blokes early 20s come up in a 4x4 they stopped at our camp asked if we wore ok ? we said yes they wore drunk at the time anyway they dove up the bush track we then saw them stop from their car fired one single shot 22 im sure and then kept driving we at the time thought nothing of it until at about 10pm at night when I walked up near where they stopped and to my surprise laying only 100 meters away was a kangaroo it had been shot in the neck and was still alive but could not move from the chest down could only move one arm and its head the bullet had gone threw the spine. but the worse was not over we knew where these young blokes lived as it was at the end of a dead end track where they went back to their house so I was nursing the roo as best as i could so that the fox's wouldn't eat it while its still on the ground unable to move. early the next morning we wrapped it in tarp and dropped it off at the same farm house where the young blokes lived this was a stupid idea as we found out later but i didn't have the guts to get a knife and finish someone else's mistake. after we dropped the roo off 15mins later we heard one single bang shot we thought this was all over and the young bloke had killed it. however that afternoon we wore sluicing down at the creek and the son and his farther came racing down the track in their 4x4 ohh boy wore we in ***** creek they made threats we tried explaining his son shot it while drunk the night before and didn't even check or recover the body as its illegal to shoot roos if you don't have a permit witch im sure they didn't anyway they ever since this ordeal i have had dead sheep roos foxs and other dead animals all places around where i used to camp obviously trying to threaten me as well as death stairs and driving past while im panning in the creek. ive got video and pics just have to find them. so apart from still having death threats im fine i guess i won't be coming back to that spot

When I was hunting in my youth it was believed that if you were a member of the Australian Shooters organization you were a responsible person.
However, to become a member you only needed to fill out a form with your personal information. They had no idea who you were and they happily handed out their memberships willy-nilly.

I would also like to mention an incident that happened to us while traveling to a favorite hunting location years ago.
Driving down a dirt country road, we came around a 90 degree bend to be confronted by two rifles pointed at our windscreen by a pair idiots that were shooting holes in the sign indicating the 90 degree bend. If one of them had pulled the trigger as we came round that bend, myself or one of my passengers might have lost their life.
If we could calculate the number of bullet holes in all the road signs in this country, the number would surely be many millions.
What a responsible lot of gun owners we are in this country! And we criticize the Yanks?

Yeah I'm nearly 50 and saw this (signs with bullet holes in them) from the mid 70's and it still happens today. The incident that you bought to our attention is nothing short of disgraceful and is no measure of the whole community of firearms owners. The best we can hope / pray for out of this is the people responsible end up in court and dealt with. If this happens the affected community can rebuild and move on. I just hope the responsible person is then visited weekly for the duration they remain in that community.

what concerns me is bullet holes in public camp ground dunnies you would certainly have the ***** if you wore inside having bullets rushing past you

If Christopher Columbus's mother had aborted him, America might have been discovered by the Vikings.
They would now be running around with horny hats and axes.
AND they would probably have eaten all the feral cats. :D
Just a thought.
gun crime would be down but axe murders and pillaging would be off the charts

I don't like shooting anything but particularly not some ones dog. Unfortunately though when you have stock there is not much choice unless you don't mind seeing your sheep walking around with they're guts hanging out. Some dogs are no problem by themselves it's usually when they gets together they start killing. Breed too is a consideration, not going to get too worried about a pack of Chiwawas
