Hi, my name is Dave and i have just caught this detecting addiction. Love the forum seems very friendly. I have a Minelab Safari detector and the local beaches are where i have decided to start this journey. Been out six times and apart from the usual junk have found some currency. Best day for me a crusty penny(date unreadable),halfpenny (1935) and a corroded clock. Tell friends you found a penny and halfpenny in crap condition and they just do not get the idea of the joy involved in discovering these treasures.
All The Best ,
Dave

Welcome Dave, sounds like you have got a competent detector to start out on, you are doing well come up with some pre-decimal coins only after few outings. Will hopefully see you out on the beaches. :)

Welcome to Prospecting Australia Dave, I'm glad you're loving the forum so far.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Cheers,
Nugget

Thanks Goldpick. Would be more than happy to see you on the beaches and learn from you. All the best Dave. :) :)

No worries Dave, we aim to please :D.

I don't mean to nitpick, but can I just ask that you don't bold your entire post, it kind of looses it's purpose is all.

Best of luck with your detecting and I hope to see you around the topics.

Cheers,
Nugget

Hi Dave G, Good to hear of another South Aussie on PA. I too caught the bug about 3 yrs ago and it has taken me to places that I probably would never have visited. And you are right! The opportunity to hold a penny or halfpenny in your hand that perhaps has laid in the sand or earth for up to 150 or more years is really something. Its not the value of the coin or object, its the story behind it. I once detected a small thimble "on the gold fields" and wondered who the lady might have been who was sewing there for her miner man.
Anyway, enough from me. Enjoy your detecting time and I hope you find much. TD

:| :) Thank you Tassie Daz for your kind wishes . I hope you have left me something to find up your way because I will certainly be in that vicinity in the near future. All the best Dave

Welcome Dave. Good to see another SA on here. Hope you have every success with the detector. Sounds like you have already made a good start.

Cliff
