They cover themselves nicely. If 100 people put up the $500 and they only receive 50 detectors in the first run, the poor buggers who miss out are locked in and will be waiting for ???? No thanks...........

The second run? I suppose if you're dead set on a GPZ this isn't an issue and I'd imagine this is why the deposit is non-refundable. Minelab probably don't want a bunch of fence sitters putting down deposits

I have never seen business conducted like this before!
ML want a $500 non-refundable deposit without providing the cost of the GPZ 7000.

minelab is not minerden mate, this a direct result of people walking into retail stores saying "i dont care what is costs i want one" if they do not start taking deposits everyone will put their name down and no one will pay for them off the list.

Minelab will allocate a certain amount of units per region i.e. first 1000 odd Australia, then USA, Africa etc etc. after that you will have to wait for a second hand unit or round 2.

Coiltek's Gold Centre's price on the 7000 is a cool $1.000.000!

They'd wanted buy a $29 broom and sweep the joint with their share of the first unit sold. The place hasn't been cleaned for 12 years...

I was told that minelab will provide detectors to its affiliates who have a list of names for those detectors, so 100 names you get 100 detectors in theory.... well see eh

Haha.... and with their depth claim of 1 to 15 metres...funny.

Beats the heck out of Minelab's three times the depth ect. then the old depth pictures with an 11" coil on a roughly looking 10oz piece increasing on each new model from then on in. With the 7000's 40% we'd be looking at what by now... 8 feet on 10oz?

if enough do buy we could try em out.

So at what price point will you say NO, considering it is a non-refundable deposit, which I find wrong! just interested to know due to you putting down a deposit without a firm end price.

"Minelab certainly don't have any holdings at all in Miners Den Australia. We are a dealer for Minelab Metal Detectors. Ian is an employee who works in our Miners Den Adelaide store. I hope that clears it up."

argyle - I suggest unless you know something for a fact I would not put statements like this online for all to see, these statements can have a negative effect on a companies perception.

agreed mate, Minersden have always had what i needed when i needed it, cant argue with that mate. then they come and support our forum too... top marks in my book.
