Been told no extra coils, so I'm still wondering why not stick with a 5000 and use bigger coils unless this coil handles the whole range of coils in one!!

Put it into perspective boys.
To join a half decent golf club will cost you $15k+ per year.
A half decent boat is $30k+ [with ongoing costs]
My youngest daughter has a camera bag, body and lenses worth $12k.

and here we have a machine that may turn the whole triangle into virgin ground again.
When the SD first came out blokes were walking around picking up gold like some here pick up pull tabs.
This just may have the same result.
You can't win Bathurst in a VW.

Good point Redfin, you've gotta be in it to win it.

i guess it musta been like this when PI technology was first introduced, a lot of punters hanging on to their VLF's waiting for the results to come through.

I started with a PI so i never experienced this , but i now understand what it was probably like back then.

But like Loamer said, it will be interesting to see how the coil situation pans out. I am always intrigued by that big drag coil hanging up in the shop at goldsearch.

I cant wait to get my hands on the new ZVT technology and run it over the old patches. Worth a punt imho ;)

my 5000 with it's 16 by whatever coil will hit down 3 foot, WTF do i need more than that, seriously, if there is gold i find it, trust me ;)

Do you find it & not post your "Gold" finds here???    because I have had a look & the only finds I can find of yours are coins & trash!! are you a bit more secretive with your "Gold"???????

Cheers
Lee :) :) :)

Well There are many Detecting Prospectors here who don't show their finds,

that's not a Fair Comment, Aye

Why post junk finds & not gold? - I think that is what Lee is getting at. Fair enough not everyone shows finds but its a pretty big statement to say if there is gold you'd find it cause as most gold detectorists know - no one machine or detectorist gets it all! Even the most so called flogged areas still give it up to different machines, coils, operator's, climatic conditions etc. etc. etc.
Lets wait & see what it can do when released. Dealers already openly saying they aren't going to be accepting GPX5000 trade ins is a clue I reckon I.e. once its released everyone will be trying to get one? Time will tell.
On the other hand no other machine from SD thru to GPX, competitor machines & even VLF's in the right conditions will suddenly stop finding gold for good operators. They will all still work! (maybe just not as easily or smoothly???)

LS - Gerrys detectors? Good luck with the exchange rate. I'm pretty sure most if not all Australian dealers are now taking pre-orders/expressions of interest.

IF that's the case then it wont be much use in steep rocky Gullies, No matter how deep it goes because that coil won't fit between the rocks in rough ground, So I guess I might be right when I said about Minelab Selling the SDC as A machine for that Task and the GPZ to be used for the Clean Flat Lands,

I Must Admit I am Pretty Lazy when it comes to posting my finds Too, I have found all sorts of stuff, But I did have some of the good stuff stolen by some One back in the summer of 2010,

Well the statement is not that big when you consider He is talking about his 5000 which is quite A Machine and until the rumours about the GPZ got out Everyone was happy and saying how wonderful the 5000s are, Now people are having Doubts in the 5000 and the GPZ not even been released Yet,
But with the lack of coils and the GPZ only using a 14" it will have very Limited Use, Just look how many people use the Sadie or the 7x14s and 5x10s or even the 20" Etc, Hence why I think minelab are expecting people to buy the SDC for small Gold and use in rough country as well as the GPZ, Instead of one machine and many coils, That way they get all your Money and the Coil Makers get Nothing, Which is Not right. When you consider that these Coil Makers have Transformed Many different Brands of Machines,

Does this mean no extra coils are available on release or none ever will be? Is the coil hardwired like the SDC?

Hey RR

Yes mate there are many that do not post ANY finds, but the good Doctor does he post's his park finds & good on him for that we all like to see what others find, but when you have not posted any "Gold" finds & you make this statement if there is gold i find it, trust me well then I think you need to put up as so not to be treated with a bit of scepticism, have a look at my post all I did was ask the question if he was a bit more secretive.

"Trust me" with a distinct lack of evidence to base ones trust in is fraught with disappointment, don't you think?????

Yes Lee, But he does own a 5000 and they are not much use for coin hunting or junk filled sites, So Owning such a Beast one would Assume that he uses it for its intended use, As I am giving him the benefit of the Doubt,

As for depth we all know there are many factors involved in that, I got sent an email saying that someone got a Nugget 30" down with another machine so maybe he could be right??

There will be other coils we need to wait a little more some say 2 weeks....

That's awesome! Should settle the coil debate then

Sometimes this forum isn't the best for finding out info you need to open your mind' Nar got a email from udo & bill over the west we will kno a lot more in 2 weeks on assesorys coils etc...

Haha sell the 5K and buy the new one what's to lose if you're serious? Think about it. Upgrade to the 7k, if it goes deeper or finds bigger/better nothing lost, if it's terrible buy the 5K back at the reduced price. Couple k outlay and a bit of time behind. Or wait until the first few are sold on the second hand market at a bit off retail. Still gonna cost at lot less than 4x4 or a boat in most cases. If it seriously can go the same depth or deeper with a smaller coil I reckon it will sell itself, young or old swinging a big coil gets tiresome, more coil time in the right hands means more gold in the pocket.
