The same people who lost their jobs probably voted for the very people who shut it down. I use to feel bad about this stuff if people will persistently vote for Lib/Lab or Greens, they deserve what they get. Go look at the CFMEU, they're all commies more interested in LGBTIQ-BBQ rights than workers rights these days.

The big problem is that it has all been privatized. As soon as a public service goes private it goes from being a service to a business. Once that happens the focus goes from supplying an essential service to customers to making money for shareholders. Management is then obligated to make decisions based on returns for investors. It's impossible for the ageing coal and gas thermal operators to compete in the market against the renewables. Reason is that the renewables get a kick back from the govt because they are reducing carbon emissions. This and the fact they don't have to pay for fuel, means they can actually offer electricity to the market at a loss on production costs and still be profitable. How can you compete against negative pricing? Another fault is the way the AEMO dictate how much power is generated. This means the Market operator estimates how much power will be needed for a 30 minute time frame and instructs generators to produce more less or none based on actual demand. Then 30 mins later when say everybodies fave tv show is about to start the whole country boils the kettle and demand spikes. With demand high and supply low the price skyrockets. This is an actual thing and is a problem in the UK when East Enders finishes they all go make a cuppa. The solution is to take the whole electricty system back into public hands. At least that's what I learnt at uni about it. I chose the electrickery industry to research last semester and then all the poo hit the fan. Talk about timing. Anyway none of the above is of much use to the people who have lost their jobs or to the rest of the people who will now pay more for electrickery. Time to look forward I reckon. The times they are a changing. Time to adapt methinks.

To all the do gooder koala touching folks out there , while ya celebrating just take a little bit of time to think of the family's who've been screwed over by this before ya jump up and down and pat ya selves on your worthless dole bludging backs. I'll see ya I hell hopefully.

There's no need to get abusive. It wasn't 'do gooder koala touching folks' (whoever they might be) that closed it, it was the owners because it wasn't profitable to run any more and would cost too much too upgrade.
I reccomend not touching koalas. Zoo ones are alright but wild ones bite, scream and scratch like hell. I had to grab one out the paddock recently before the cows got to play soccer with it. Ungrateful buggers :koala:

Way back when mate had a pretty pristine hz wagon. On the way home from somewhere one night, one of the said critters was popped on his bonnet. As one may expect it didnt turn out so well for the paint.
